Winter getaway with friends for Valentines weekend
The house was very friendly. We had a beautiful view with the lake and a snowstorm that we were able to watch. It was great seeing the fisherman and the snowmobiles on the lake. Our group made some nice meals together and we really were relaxed. The home was very comfortable.
It was better then the pictures. Great location. The property was very accomodating. All you had to bring was food and clothes. Everything else was supplied. Decor was very quaint. Very Roomy. My only suggestion is it should have an air conditioner at least in the kitchen. It got very hot in the main house
Bedrooms had air, very comfortable. Overall stay was memorable.
We had a great time at Highland Lake. The apartment was so comfortable, and larger than I would have thought from the description. It was convenient to town - the teens loved access to DQ, pizza shops, etc just a few minutes away. There were kayaks and a paddleboat we could borrow, which I somehow missed in the description - nice pluses! The lake access from the dock was perfect. We brought stand-up paddleboards, and had an easy time launching them and exploring the lake. In the apartment, everything was clean and well-kept. (They even sent someone over from the neighboring marina to clean the dock of duck poop each day!)
One minus, the kitchen was not ideal for cooking. It has no cabinet storage for food, and no serving dishes, etc. But, if you're planning to eat out, or can just make do, no problem. There's a second drink fridge in the front room overlooking the lake- so it's all about priorities...
A note for parents - There's an old building in the back yard that is waiting to be demolished. When my kiddo was younger, that would have been a challenge - he would have found it irresistible. It's chained off, but depending on your kids, keep that in mind.
All in all, we had a great week. We'd definitely come back again!
We enjoyed our stay. The place was very clean and the accommodations were very good. Close to town and there is a brewery/restaurant right down the road if you need to get a bite. We will be back when we visit Connecticut.
we rented the Inn of Highland Lake for a family funeral as we traveled and needed a place to stay. The view was spectacular and plenty of room. The place was very clean, and communication was good. I would highly recommend and my next visit I will stay there.
This met our needs and was nearby family we were visiting. Everything was easy and there were no issues with the check-in & out process. The second floor is nice because we had a great view of the lake and busy marina next door. We rented a pontoon since there was a discount and the weather broke just enough.
The 2 window A/C units couldn’t cool the whole upstairs so we had to be strategic. Not all windows had screens so that was another challenge to keep bugs out but vent the house so we could sleep. There were also a few things that needed fixed (bed frame and dryer vent) that probably no one knew about. Road noise was annoying.
All around the stay was relaxing and easy. For some it was hot and uncomfortable for sleeping.
