Gorgeous Country Cottage, beside Windsor Great Park & overlooking Windsor Castle

The Victorian Lodge (1876) is a charming and quintessentially English country cottage on a private estate once owned by King Henry 8th. It sits at the entrance of a long driveway leading to the Little Dower House (www.littledowerhouse.com) the enchanting home where Susie and Hamish the owners of the Lodge live.

I hope you will read the amazing reviews our lovely guests have written about their stays here in our Cottage :)

The Victorian Lodge with it's lovely garden and stunning views provides the perfect setting for a small intimate Wedding, whilst the romantic and enchanting gardens at Little Dower House also provide an ideal venue for larger weddings.

For larger families wishing to stay at the Lodge, there is also the opportunity to rent the Little Hideaway at Little Dower House, a beautifully furnished two story studio apartment, with a kitchen and shower room downstairs, and one large room upstairs which serves as both bedroom and sitting room. It sleeps two adults, and up to two children. The Little Hideaway is a secluded and super romantic retreat which makes for the perfect getaway.

The area is great for couples, families, country lovers, townies, food lovers, gardeners, riders, polo players, golfers and walkers too.

We can provide two road bicycles for free ( upon request ) for as long as you like. explore the beautiful local area, cycle through the 400 acre Windsor Great Park on the road trails through the heart of it, or explore the surrounding towns by country road

The Cottage is set on a quiet country road, directly opposite the magnificent Windsor Great Park, with spectacular views of Windsor Castle.

It's a super warm, super cosy cottage, with a lovely garden in a unique location, on a quiet and private estate of four houses. With private parking, polo ponies in the field opposite the Lodge, great walks, great pubs, Windsor, Thorpe Park and LEGOLAND just nearby, and central London only 35 minutes away by train and Heathrow airport 20 minutes away by car.

The Cottage is only 5 minutes away from the Bishops Gate entrance into the Great Park, where you can walk forever, bike ride, horse ride, or just sit by one of the enormous lakes and lap up some of the stunning views. Take a walk in the famous Valley or Savill Gardens, watch a few chukkas being played at Guards Polo ground, or take a ride in Windsor Great Park from a horse at Tally Ho stables 5 minutes away.

There is a traditional and excellent English pub only 5 minutes away, The Fox and Hounds in Englefield Green , situated by the Bishops Gate entrance into the Great Park , serving simply wonderful light bites, great pub food and smart restaurant food. It's the perfect place, and great for lunch, dinner, a snack or a BBQ, and a well earned rest after a walk in the Park.

WOW!!!!
My husband and I cannot say enough good things about our stay with Hamish and Susie! This was BY FAR the best VRBO we ever have stayed in. There was not one detail missed. It was very well maintained, clean, beautiful location, the grounds were gorgeous and the host were next level helpful. The communication was 10 stars! We have 4 very large boys all over 6’3 and they were very comfortable in the beds. There were so many extras that made our trip easy. A beautiful welcome basket filled with snacks and drinks, toiletries, blow dryer, washing machine. This place has it all. My husband and I CANNOT wait to come back and visit. Next time for longer! Thank you so much, Hamish and Susie! You helped make our first trip to the UK an unforgettable, beautiful experience.

Christmas break 2023
Stayed at the lodge for a short break. Ideally located for Lapland UK and Windsor Castle. Hamish and Susie were great hosts, excellent communication and welcome when we arrived. The property is nice and cosy, well equipped and with a a good size garden if you have a 4 legged friend. Right on the doorstep of Windsor Great Park for walks. Hamish's stories of the Royals and a very famous 'Neighbour' were great, he had us enthralled from the moment we arrived. I must say also that the welcome pack was one of the best we have ever had, very generous thank you. Overall a very enjoyable stay and would highly recommend. Many thanks.

Home away from home
This cottage hits all the marks. It’s a nice quiet place to relax and enjoy nature around you but only an Uber ride into town, which was so easy and always available. Hamish and Susie were stellar host and always available if and when needed. The cottage felt like home immediately and you can’t beat that view of Windsor Castle. Hamish met us upon arrival, showed us around and went above and beyond to get us settled. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to be while on holiday.

Magical Stay in Windsor
I hesitate to say too much about how amazing this property is because I want it to be available the next time we stay in Windsor! Hamish and Susan MacMillan were terrific hosts. The cottage is a real gem. It is charming, beautifully furnished and extremely clean. We were welcomed with fresh cut flowers and a well stocked and furnished kitchen. We were very grateful for the "Welcome Basket" complete with a bottle of wine, crackers, cheese, farm fresh eggs, chocolate, cookies, milk, etc. Everything you would need before you can make to the store. The location is perfect and the grounds have wonderful gardens and outstanding views of Windsor Castle across a flower filled Meadow. There are many good restaurants and pubs nearby, Hamish was very helpful with recommendations. I had better stop now or it will be fully booked when I want to come stay again which I hope will be very very soon!

Trip to Windsor/Bray
This was a trip for my husband's 50th and we travelled with my Mum and our sausage dog. It was a great celebration weekend. The cottage is very conveniently located less than 20 minutes from Bray where we had reservations at the Waterside Inn,15 minutes from Windsor and 5 minutes from Old Windsor where there was a Co-op a couple of restaurants and a farm shop that had good food and was a nice cafe for coffee and cake. The cottage was great, the beds were very comfy with lovely linen. The TV had Sky. The kitchen had everything you could need to self cater including loads of basics such as butter, oil, maple syrup, mustard that not all self catering cottages supply. The welcome pack was extremely generous cheese, crisps, wine, bread, jams, coffee, tea, biscuits and chocolates that we swore we wouldn't eat, but we opened the lot and thoroughly enjoyed them! Opposite the cottage was a field owned by Hamish and Susie that we could use to walk the dog which was a bonus. There was also a sizeable garden with the property. The garden isn't secure so we had to keep our dog on a lead as he has no recall - but that wasn't a problem. Hamish was lovely helpful in introducing us to the cottage and how everything worked and informative on the local area which carparks to use etc. We all thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay and would highly recommend the property.
