Our farm, “Altwerdumer Grashaus,” featuring a vacation home and a vacation apartment, is the oldest working farm on the North Sea coast. Farmers have been working in and around these buildings since 1670, the year our house was built. In 1998 and 1999, the farm and its buildings underwent extensive and very elaborate restoration. Upon request, you can also tour our large wind energy plant, for example.
The vacation home and apartment are fully equipped (e.g., with dishwashers) and designed and furnished to be welcoming and cozy.
The “Historisches Backhaus” vacation home is, as the name suggests, the former bakery for this farm and the surrounding farms. Now, as a vacation home, the “Historisches Backhaus” offers an enormous amount of space and amenities across approximately 140 square meters of living area, ensuring a wonderful vacation for two to six people.
Inside and around the vacation home, there is a very large living room with a fireplace and access to the large west-facing terrace, along with a superbly equipped kitchen and a beautiful bathroom featuring a shower, sink, and toilet. There are also three bedrooms on the upper floor. In addition to the west-facing terrace, there are other seating areas around the house—perfect, for example, for a lovely breakfast outdoors.
The “Taubenschlag” vacation rental, with 70 square meters of living space, is also very spacious and easily large enough for two to five people. It features a living room with a separate kitchen area and access to the west-facing terrace, as well as a beautiful bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet, and two bedrooms.
There’s always plenty to do on our farm—if that’s what you’re looking for. First and foremost, the riding opportunities on two riding arenas (sand arenas) are definitely worth mentioning. There are two ponies and one horse on site, and you’re welcome to bring your own horses. Upon request, private lessons can be arranged in the indoor riding arena or on the outdoor arena. Your host is a certified trail riding instructor, so trail rides through the beautiful East Frisian countryside can be arranged.
Every 14 days, there’s a campfire under the ancient, towering linden trees. There are also several outdoor playgrounds and a sandbox in the indoor riding arena. And then there are, for example, three “Dino-Cars” (i.e., large go-karts)—one even comes with a trailer—a straw castle, a treehouse, and much more.
We also offer many farm-fresh products, such as eggs from free-range chickens. Come and be surprised—and join in the fun! Or simply indulge in the peaceful and relaxing life at the “Altwerdumer Grashaus” farm!
Our farm, “Altwerdumer Grashaus,” is located right next to the state-recognized climatic health resort of Werdum, a green oasis of tranquility on the North Sea. Here you’ll find the peaceful and healthy relaxation you expect from your North Sea vacation. Werdum, in turn, is very close to the North Sea spa town of Neuharlingersiel and the “Lower Saxony Wadden Sea Nature Park.”
It’s not far to the old fishing village of Werdum, where you’ll find, for example, the “Haus des Gastes” and the Kneipp therapy hall. Right next to it is the petting zoo, which is especially popular with children—it features many exotic animals to observe and even pet.
Since the climatic health resort of Werdum isn’t very large, life here is quite calm and tranquil—simply relaxing. However, there are also plenty of events and activities to enjoy during your vacation. You’ll find yourself right in the middle of country life. The old churchyard and the village square with the Werdum Country Brewery, the East Frisian Werdum Mill, the “Hauses des Gastes” (Guest House), and other village attractions.
