The manager did allow us to change to a room at Quality Inn on the same property. The room was clean, in good condition and larger. For a basic city in the heart of the Shenandoah there is a lot of hidden gems to discover. The Econo lodge is nothing to write home about but I found it to be well worth the cost. The Econo Lodge building is not as nice as Quality Inn. As soon as we walked into the Econo Lodge building it reeked of marijuana, I felt like I was walking into a stoner’s den. The building backs up to the bottom of a hill that someone could walk up to your room window undetected, I did not feel secure. The room was okay. It had updated carpeting. The sheets had a burn hole in them, though, and the desk chair was broken. The finish on the ottoman in the room was peeling. The bed was comfortable and other furnishings looked good. Thought about going somewhere else, but stuck it out because we had already paid for the room. I believe i got bed bug bites from the bed as i have red swollen welts on my neck. The bed barely had any bedding. A thin sheet and a thin blanket. The bathroom wasn't clean. No thin thing of soap for the body. The tub had chip paint. The breakfast was subpar with watery eggs and make it yourself waffles. Many of the juices weren't working. For almost 200 bucks, I expected more. Never again and I would advise people to stay away.
