While Wakkanai was just a getaway to the island of Rishiri and Rebun I had a very pleasant stay here. It is quiet and clean with the freshest air! While there isn't much other than a fishing industry here it is here I realized that Japanese had it good as a citizen more than any other parts of the world. We know there are inequalities as a citizen in most part of the world in that the richer cities or sectors of a country will have it better than others in term of basic infrastructure and communal facilities. Hotel was an easy walk from the train station and offered a map with a variety of restaurants with hours of operation listed too. Also very close to the train station and next to a great soup curry place! Would stay there if I ever make the long trip to Wakkanai again. :) ##### Thomas Stayed 2 nights in Oct 2023 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Jia Yu Michelle Jul 10, 2025 Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities Lovely and comfortable stay - breakfast was worth the extra fee, boasting a bountiful buffet of fresh sashimi, delicious side dishes, comforting soups and freshly-cooked rice in addition to other usual fare like bread, yoghurt and fruits. Rooms were on the small side, but perfectly serviceable. The public baths are fantastic, and there are 3 washers + 3 dryers per gender in the public bath area. There’s also free ice cream and yoghurt drinks for after your bath, be it morning/night! Location is just a short walk away from the JR station/bus terminal, and throwing distance from 3 car rental agencies. It’s a 15-minute walk from the ferry terminal, but in the early AM (when the first ferry leaves), it’s a nice walk in summer.
