We only booked this hotel because we were 3 and needed a closed bedroom, also, the location was ideal for us, but that's it. The place strongly needs maintenance and a thorough cleaning. There is dirt, everywhere ! The premises, the parking lot, the hallways, the room floors, walls and furniture. The ice machine on the 4th floor was not working. I don't think they ever clean these machines so I would only use the ice for the bucket to cool my wine.They advertise a kitchen, yet it has nothing. No dining table, no cookware, no silverware, no dishes, no rags nor cleaning supplies. There was no cold water on tap. The sofa bed was horribly uncomfortable and we had to ask for a replacement because the first one wouldn't open. There is no bathroom tissue. They only gave us 2 rolls of toilet paper. Housekeeping never came to the room in the 3 days that we were there.The linens were stained and upon arrival, there were only 3 towels, no bath carpet or face towels, we had to ask for more. The bedding is cheap and stained.The coffee maker may be the cheapest on the market and had unsufficient amount of coffee for 3 people, for 3 days.The sliding door was hard to open. There is NO POOL. I stayed at that hotel in May 2000 and it was gorgeous. It's sad that it has been left to die since. The owners obviously don't care about their property nor their clients. Because it is not part of a hotel chain, they don't care about standards. In this case, it doesn't even meet the bare minimum. I didn't wanna hassle with trying to get refund so i toughed it out for a night. Place was dirty and looked as they started painting two years ago and stopped painters tape and over spray everywhere. My stay at Sun and Sand Resort Oceanfront Suites in Virginia Beach was unfortunately very disappointing. When we arrived, the first room we were given had a bathtub faucet that ran nonstop. The water was so loud that there was no way we could sleep in that room. Because of that, we had to be moved, and we did not end up in the room type we originally booked. The room we were moved to still had several issues. The walls were dirty and noticeably scuffed, and the overall space felt like it had not been cleaned well. During our stay, the room was never refreshed or serviced, which made it feel even less comfortable. The balcony door was also a problem. It either would not close completely or was extremely difficult to open, which made it feel unsafe and frustrating. What concerned me most was the condition of the common areas. A bag of trash sat in the hallway for our entire three day stay. It was there when we checked in and it was still sitting there when we checked out. Seeing garbage left out like that for days made the hotel feel neglected and poorly managed. I had hoped for a pleasant oceanfront stay, but the level of cleanliness and maintenance was far below what I expected. Pros: Amazing oceanfront views from every room, each with a patio or balcony. Fantastic location – right in the heart of VA Beach near shops, restaurants, and the boardwalk. Affordable compared to nearby hotels. Room had two TVs, a good work desk with lighting, strong water pressure, and powerful AC. Free WiFi, fast elevator, and stunning views from the 8th-floor pool and deck. Staff was very friendly – seems like a family-run hotel. Cons: The hotel is older and definitely shows its age. Room was mostly clean, but there were small signs of mold in the bathroom and it could use a deeper cleaning. No tub plug, and the pool was cold, low on water, with a broken ladder step. Bottom line: If you know what to expect – an older but well-located property – it’s a great value. Not as bad as some reviews say. Both Tv was broke, slider door was broken, mold all over, smelled horrible, no ice, no coffee, vending machines where broken and empty, pool was nasty and half full, shower was only scrollding hot not cold water so couldn’t take a shower, parking was a joke, coffee pot in room they offered was still full from last tenants and was moldy and smelled, no remotes for either tv, shades didn’t work, fridge didn’t work and lights in room only half worked.
