The flooring by the fireplace is also soft. Stove didn’t work. It took 3 hours to cook something that should’ve taken 30 minutes. I understand the cottage is in a more rural area, but there were Japanese beetles, spiders and stink bugs everywhere. Night was quiet and comfortable. Had a nice fire outside and cabin was warm inside. Comfortable beds. Slight gas smell when we entered, but it seemed to dissipate once place was opened up. Attic type ladder to upper sleeping area was pretty shaky so I recommend using outside steps. Porta potties clean and fresh. An outside motion light would be nice for those who might need to venture to the potty in the night. A mouse lives in a drawer. 🐭 Typically, a VRBO has 'a few necessities.' This place had literally nothing, not even a towel....no hot water in the outdoor shower, though the shower is uniquely cool. I don't even know if the ancient A/C upstairs works, but, there is no where to plug it in anyway. Someone used an extension strip at some point and it is fried to a crisp. There are several safety/maintenance issues that should absolutely be addressed. Side note: If it was my place, I'd make up all the beds instead of leaving each bed (except 1) stripped with all the bedding piled on each bed.....looked a bit like a flop house.
