Clean and comfortable hotel in the outskirts of town. Fortunately the 25 bus is nearby and dependable. Courteous staff and ample breakfast contribute to a positive experience.

The room is very small but the staffs are very nice.

Enjoyed our start at the Royal Hotel Carlton. The proximity to the Central train station was convenient for our arrival from Florence as well as our departure to the airport the next day. It’s also a 15 min walk from the Piazza Maggiore which made it easy to explore Bologna for the day we were there.

The location to the train station could not have been better, it's literally across the street! The staff was friendly, breakfast was good and the checkout time was generous. Beds were comfy but the pillows were lumpy and not very comfortable. The room was extremely hot and I was thankful that the windows worked, since the AC they advertised on Expedia did not work, nor did the phones to call reception about it. I believe there might be local laws preventing it, but I stayed in a much cheaper place the night before and didn't experience a lack of AC. Basically you have to choose between the blackout curtains or being a little more comfortable. The lack of AC was the only real issue. Everything else was nice.
