This hotel offers great value for the price. It’s conveniently located near a bus and tram stop, making it easy to get around. The room is on the smaller side with limited storage space, but it does include a handy mini-fridge for snacks and drinks. The bathroom is also quite compact, but overall, it’s a comfortable and affordable stay.

We stayed twice on our visit to Utrecht. Once w/o breakfast and once with. The breakfast was very good. The eggs were fresh cooked and there was a good variety of food, nice breakfast sandwich selection, too. The room was nice, mostly clean with a few icky spots on the walls. Bathroom doors were heavy and couldn't be left open. Easy walk to get to tram. Nice place to stay!

The hotel rooms are totally quiet although the hotel is situated close to A12 and Europalaan. Parking was cost-free in a closed parking lot! We used our bikes to reach Utrecht downtown via a convenient 15min drive but there is also a bus connection. Price-performance ratio was good. Hotel furnishing & style are very similar to other Bastion hotels. Personnel very friendly.

Overall a great hotel to stay a few nights, lady at breakfast really made our day, but the waitress at diner was so distant and didn't bother to ask us anything after getting our plates, we sure would have wanted a dessert with some extra drinks. Something they can certainly improve on, the service at their dinners.

I stayed at Bastion for one night only, and I was happy with my stay - the very friendly receptionist provided me with a room with one double bed instead of the room with two singles that I had booked because it had been cheaper. Initially, the property was confusing to reach because it's right next to a motorway entrance and also surrounded by a large fence, this was a uncomfortable situation to be in after dark. If you come by public transport, make sure to use the P+R Westraven stop, Google will tell you something else! The room was clean, unfortunately it triggered my dust allergies when I turned off the airconditioning, but the bed was comfortable and with a set of earplugs, the car noise from the street was no longer an issue.

Hotel conveniently located near main roads, but outside Utrecht. Bad shape and condition. Common spaces urgently need an extensive renovation. Cleaning service also need major improvement mainly in common spaces. Breakfast... €18 for crappy service (unacceptable!) and medium/low quality choice/taste. Not expecting 3* Michelin but decent food, or adjust pricing. Parking with no direct access to hotel, and no sign/direction for handicapped people. Overall, a very low quality for a high price

Convenient location

Bathroom sink very small and difficult to use due to shelf above the sink. Room not serviced / ie cups not washed, we’re dirty on arrival . Coffee/ hot water machine not clean and when used had bits in from previous use. Staff friendly at reception. No bath mat / towel had to use a hand towel when in shower as floor for wet and slippery. Bed very soft and pillows way too big and fat, unable to sleep on this . Did ask if could find a flatter/ thinner pillow but didn’t materialise. Otherwise very convenient for buses into town.

Just what we required.

Great location for buses and trams or via a walk along the canal. Friendly and responsive staff. Clean and secure. On the downside, out TV didn't work. We switched remotes and discovered the problem was with the plug socket. It wasn't fixed while we were there and there was no offer of a room change. TV problem apart, I would definitely stay there again.

Average hotel some distance from city center but convenient to train station. Room (#80) was clean and nice size. Low shelf over bathroom sink made it hard to actually use the sink. Shower was great, goor pressure and controls. Room coffee machine did not work. No iron or ironing board (useful to business travellers). I arrived tired after an overnight flight (with no sleep) at 10am, requested early check in. Unfortunately this did not happen and I had to wait to about 2:15pm (I was a disappointed).

Needs maintance

I booked 10 rooms for my colleagues and I with the option to pay at the hotel premises, However the hotel system did not show this in our reservations. At the end all rooms were prepaid with my credit card. I don't know if this is an error on the hotel side or hotels.com. In any case it is now a mess to settle the payments for so many people. The hotel corridors need some maintenance, the rugs have big spots on them, almost resembling someone bleeding all over and then the area being bleached. The towels had big holes in them. The people at reception were polite and apologized for the towels, however this is not the level you expect for this type of hotel. Utrecht is small and transportation is easy, so only reason to stay at Bastion is if you must for location and logistics reasons, otherwise not recommended.

Slightly off-center from main attractions

We were allowed to check-in prior to 15h00 (much appreciated). Friendly staff. 17 min by bike (1h by foot) from Central Station. A little bit expensive for what it has to offer.
