The view is exceptional, the rustic craftsmanship is beautiful, and the wildlife was unforgettable. We watched a herd of elk cross the meadow each evening, along with a buck and three turkeys.Unfortunately, the property’s condition didn’t justify nearly 3,000 for a three-night stay. We expected a luxury experience but found a home that appeared overdue for maintenance. Our first impression was a pump house with insulation protruding from the door. Other issues included a broken upstairs door that made the upper deck unusable, poorly sealed French doors that roared in the wind, failed window seals that obscured the Mount Adams view, overgrown weeds on the patio and walkways, roofing material in the grass, a bee nest above the deck, garbage bins strewn about, a snow shovel under a broken deck step, piles of old lumber, and cheap outdoor furniture that felt out of place.Individually, these issues are minor. Collectively, they gave the impression the property hadn’t been prepared for guests. To Arrived’s credit, customer service responded immediately and offered to send someone out. We declined because these are items that should have been addressed before arrival. This property has five-star potential because the location is spectacular. Better upkeep, weed control, basic repairs, replacing failed windows, removing debris, and a thorough pre-arrival inspection would make a dramatic difference.
