Considering the price my room at Gotthard was superb. Both the top level room I stayed this year and a lover level room I stayed in before has been very quiet and I have been able to sleep with an open windows (notice that non of them have been facing the street) The rooms haven't been big, fairly small actually but been well equipped with modern bathrooms, a fridge, a kettle and a small stove. The lack of a lift is worth mentioning but the stairway is wide enough and if you are fairly mobile and looking for a non-expensive room in the old town that shouldn't be a problem. The relative late check-out time at noon suited me excellent. I've stayed here before and will most likely stay there again.

The property is superbly located to explore the old town. The main square is 10 mins walk along the route are restaurants and gift shops along with a few interesting bars. The hotel is within an old building which should not be mistaken as charm. The room I had was located on the top floor without the benefit of a lift in fact it best described as an attic room very small and as it was located in the roof area it was hot with only a tiny un curtained window which didn’t open to provide air which in the summer would be unbearable. A small token fan was provided which was inadequate. On the plus side the shower was excellent bathroom was just fine. The room was small with the smallest gap between the bed and chest of drawers the room came with fried and safe. The Wi-Fi just didn’t work no matter what you did. The reception was manned during the day and we were able to leave bags for safe keeping after check out which was at 12:00 which was helpful. In summery not dreadful but not the most luxurious either.

Self check-in but they did not give a room number so was a bit lost when we arrived. 'Make Up The Room' meant change the towels and nothing else. Entrance untidy and dingy but the room was okay.

Squeaky bed underground

I paid 70 EUR for a squeaky bed in a cave-like underground single bed room with no breakfast. Though breakfast was offered in a nearby hotel which I didn't go to. Maybe I've should've. The only window was high up and voices from the streets flooded in.

Our stay in the Budget Double/Twin room was tolerable. Was it cheap? Yes. Was the location good? Yes. Was our stay pleasant? Absolutely not. The check in was unwelcoming and confusing, but fast. Our room was clean-ish; no actual rubbish on the floor, but spiderwebs hanging from the ceiling and odd splatters of matter on some of the walls and doors. The towels and sheets were clean. The mattresses were also clean, as we felt necessary to check them for bed bugs because of the overall vibe of the room that was full of unfitting kitchen cabinets and appliences. Which I guess are useful for some guests, but for us they just made the small room feel even smaller and sloppier. Some maintenance is also required in the bathroom as the shower rail and toilet flush button are broken, but still working. All things mentioned so far are fine for us, but the last part of this review is the reason why we can’t recommend this hotel. The dungeon, as we named our room for the two nights we survived there, was unbearable hot. I have never experienced anything like that before and hopefully I will never have to experience the hot, thick, and stagnant air ever again. A small fan was provided, which we kept on constantly to boost our morale. After stepping into our lair of hot despair for the first time, we immediately tried to talk to the front desk who just waved us off as if already knowing why we were coming to them. We couldn’t even talk to them, they weren’t even looking at us.

Zimmer war mit Fenster zu einer Wand die zirka 60cm entfernt war. Fenster konnte geöffnet werden ohne Ausblick! Dusche soweit okay. Super war der tägliche Wechsel der Frottetücher!

Good location

Stay in triple room for 5 nights. Very convenient location in old town. Accessible to attraction places and good restaurants. Enjoy the christmas market nearby. Walking distance (20 min) to ferry terminal D for cruise to Helsinki. Same buffet breakfast served throughtout our stay.

Sijainti hyvä ja hiljainen. Vaikka huoneemme oli ikkunaton se ei silti ollut ahdistava näin pimeeseen aikaan. Suihkussa kun kävi niin koko WC:n lattia kastui. Myöhään illalla keskusteltava kuiskaamalla jotta aulasta ei tulisi kehotusta olla hiljempaa.
