Aurora Cottage is a unique mountain escape situated in Katoomba which is part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage site of New South Wales. The elevated position of the cottage provides breath-taking views of the Megalong Valley with spectacular sunsets providing the perfect romantic getaway. Aurora Cottage is located close to the main town of Katoomba where a choice of cafes, pubs and restaurants are available for a variety of dining experiences. Enjoy a stroll through the quaint gift shops, art galleries and antique emporiums in the area. The world famous Scenic World and Three Sisters are only 3 kilometres from Aurora Cottage. Aurora Cottage accommodates up to 6 people. The comfortable main bedroom contains a beautiful queen-size bed, whilst the second bedroom has one set of bunk beds and a double bed. The bedrooms boasts beautiful garden views. All beds are made up with electric blankets and fluffy cosy doonas for those cold winter nights. Quality bed linen is provided for your comfort. There is a small third sleeping space that has a single bed should you require it. The bathroom of Aurora Cottage has been renovated and contains a high pressure shower head. Bath towels are provided with a heated towel rack to keep them warm and cosy. The clean fully equipped kitchen includes a microwave and coffee machine with capsules, tea, cooking utensils, cookware and dinnerware. The large sliding windows of the open plan lounge and 6 setting dining room of Aurora Cottage overlook the magnificent Megalong Valley. There is gas heating that gives instant heat and keeps you warm on those chilly nights. The lounge room is completed an LED TV. A Blu-ray DVD player is provided with a selection of DVDs to choose from. Enjoy afternoon drinks and a barbeque on the large verandah which features an outdoor table setting. The verandah is surrounded by a beautiful garden that provides a home for the local birdlife. Parking is available in driveway and in front of the cottage. Aurora is light and bright throughout and offers a peaceful tranquil setting for total relaxation. The cottage provides a perfect romantic getaway for couples or an affordable break for families and is an easy drive from the city. It is located in one of the most picturesque parts of Katoomba with many great walking trails nearby, including the famous 1884 Six Foot Track that starts in Katoomba and ends at the Jenolan Caves. Unfortunately the cottage is not suitable for pets as the back garden is unfenced and flows into the Megalong Valley. Aurora is a non-smoking property. A quaint, cozy cottage perfect for our small family of three. The most striking feature when entering the property is the gorgeous uninterrupted view of the valley. The cottage has a rustic appeal with its retro furnishings, comfortable living area, and thoughtful provisions such as a Nespresso coffee machine, cooking essentials, and generous provision of pillows and towels. Bedrooms - the queen bed is SO comfortable with lovely soft bedding and sheets. Double bed in the other bedroom was much firmer and I didn't find it comfortable to sleep on. The bedrooms have no heating, but electric blankets are provided. We stayed in April so it didn't get too cold, however, I imagine it would be cold in the bedrooms if staying in the Winter, and this could be accommodated with the provision of oil heaters. We loved the colourful front and backyard gardens which were a joy to explore, and enjoyed having a drink on the front verandah overlooking the gardens. The cottage could do with some cosmetic upgrades, in particular fixing the bathroom door, replacing rusty fittings in the bathroom,and a rubber strip at the base of the shower door to prevent water soaking the bathroom floor. The living area needs a floor lamp to create ambient lighting at night instead of having bright lights overhead. The host Kristen was very reliable. She provided detailed and helpful information prior to check-in, and kindly accommodated us with an earlier check-in time. We loved our stay at Aurora Cottage. ##### Yvette T. The cottage was perfect, location, peacefulness, equipment, but the weather was not on our side unfortunately.... Full day rain ! Séjour de 2 nuits en avril 2024 ### 8/10 – Bien #### Natalie C. 4 avr. 2024 Points forts : Propreté #### Cosy cottage with a beautiful view Really enjoyed our stay at Aurora Cottage and in the Blue Mountains in general. Kristen was very helpful in explaining the check in process and kindly accommodated us with an earlier check in option. The cottage has everything you need, including a fully equipped kitchen with some lovely extras. It is small and nothing is "new" but for us staying with younger children that made it comfortable and it was great to see some games and books there. The bathroom has seen better days but was fine for what we needed. The heating works really well in the cottage and the shower was strong and the water was hot. The view from the living room and kitchen is magnificent. We even saw a wallaby outside :) and I loved the back garden. It's five minutes drive to the centre of Katoomba and even closer to Scenic World so very convenient if you are driving. It's fairly tight parking for a 4WD (just getting in the gate) but doable.
