#### Check out a life-size statue of Minnie the Minx, one of the United Kingdom’s favourite comic book characters, wielding a slingshot in Dundee’s City Square.

Pose for a photograph and admire the artistry of the Minnie the Minx Statue, a bronze sculpture of the much-loved cartoon character. Sneaking up on her comic book compatriot Desperate Dan in City Square, Minnie the Minx reveals her impish look and loaded slingshot. Check out the sculpture as you stroll around the pretty City Square. You’re sure to recognize the character on your travels around the United Kingdom.

Minnie the Minx first appeared in the comic book *The Beano* in 1953 and has enjoyed an important spot among the book’s comic strips ever since. Comic artist Leo Baxendale created the character. Like Dennis the Menace and Roger the Dodger, Minnie the Minx likes to play tricks and get into brawls. She is known as a mischievous tomboy who calls her troublemaking “minxing” and makes regular appearances in the strips of other characters from the golden age of comic books.

Wander up to the bronze likeness and notice the playful expression on her face, as well as the loaded slingshot she is brandishing at her fellow comic book character, Desperate Dan from *The Dandy*. City Square is a hub for community life in Dundee. On any day you might find markets, festivals, concerts or events on its diamond-patterned central quadrant and in the surrounding recital halls. Find the Minnie the Minx Statue near a thoroughfare of shops bordering the pedestrianized City Square. The shopping district of Nethergate is nearby, as well as several other inner city attractions, such as St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral and St. Mary’s Church.
