About this property
Wild Lights Weekend: Fire Pit, Walk to Zoo!
Your century home steps from Forest Park, the Zoo, and the best of St. Louis.
Picture this: the kids are already racing across a fenced double-lot backyard while you pour the first cup of coffee on the oversized front porch. Tonight you'll gather around the fire pit, and tomorrow you'll cook a real family dinner in a kitchen that has everything you need. Welcome to Parkside Getaway, a beautifully restored 1920s home in the heart of walkable Dogtown, built for families and groups.
THE LOCATION
• 11-minute walk to the Zoo entrance
• Steps from Forest Park, the Art Museum, the Science Center, and the Muny
• Restaurants and coffee shops 5–15 minutes away
• Airport is a quick drive
• Private off-street parking pad. Park both cars and leave them all weekend.
SLEEPING (sleeps 7, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths)
• Primary suite: king bed and a recently added en suite
• Second bedroom: queen bed plus a bonus room
• Third bedroom: twin bed and a twin daybed with a trundle that converts to a king
• Smart TVs in the living room and every bedroom
BASEMENT (unfinished: exposed studs, open utilities, concrete floor)
• Laundry
• Brand-new bathroom
• Game tables (air hockey and foosball)
LAYOUT NOTE
• Every bathroom is upstairs or in the basement. There is none on the main floor, so if stairs are difficult this may not be the right house for you.
TRAVEL LIGHTER
• High chair, booster, infant bath, portable crib, baby gate, and kid wagon
• Bins of blocks, puzzles, and games
• Fully equipped kitchen: dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave, kettle, blender, toaster, and two coffee makers
OUTDOORS
• Private, fully fenced backyard on a double lot, one of Dogtown's rarest treasures
• Yard games and a fire pit
• Oversized front porch for morning coffee
• Brand-new playground a short walk down the road, near the Zoo
HISTORY & CHARACTER
• The cast plaque by the door reads ESTABLISHED 1924
• Expect a few lovable quirks, like creaky floors and unique angles, alongside thoughtful modern updates
• Perfect if you value craftsmanship and authentic neighborhoods. Less so if you want brand-new construction or a resort-style setting.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
• In the heart of Dogtown, surrounded by local restaurants, pubs, and parks
• It's a lived-in setting, so you may occasionally hear friendly city sounds
• Visit around St. Patrick's Day to catch Dogtown's famous celebration
• Honest note: the primary bedroom faces the street with I-64/40 beyond it, so you will hear some road noise. There is a sound machine in the house you're welcome to use, and guests who know to expect it sleep through it.
GOOD TO KNOW
• Self check-in via keypad
• Check-in after 4 PM, checkout before 10 AM
• Instant Book is on
• Exterior Ring cameras at the entrances (never inside)
• Standard noise/smoke monitoring that never records conversations
• No pets, no parties, no smoking inside, no food in bedrooms
Book your St. Louis home base. Families come for the Zoo and Forest Park and leave already planning the trip back. We'd love to host you!
✅ LOCAL COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS
This property requires a signed rental agreement, ID verification, and a security deposit. We know deposits are annoying, so you can choose between two options:
• Option 1: Damage Waiver ($49). Covers up to $1,500 of accidental damage (spills, breaks, mishaps) with no surprise charges. Covers up to 10 nights, +$2/day for longer stays, and is provided by a third-party insurance company.
• Option 2: Security Deposit ($1,000). A refundable temporary hold that releases after your stay.
We use Happy Guest to make this easy. It's a secure website, not an app, and you don't need to create an account. It also gives you a guest portal with all the info about the home and my favorite local spots.
