We went for one night, and enjoy every aspect of this gorgeous home.Grill in good conditions, jacuzzi and hot sauna incredible, beds are comfortables, and everything was great! Cassey and Jess are super host Thanks!!!!!
The house was beautiful. We went for a family vacation bringing myself, my partner, 2 kids, mother in law, and 2 dogs. The house was spacious, we never felt overcrowded. We loved sitting on the porch for sunset while using the grill provided or using the hot tub. The drive up the mountain to the cabin was steep but the cabin was worth it. The host was super nice when our battery died on our last night due to cold weather and we had to call a tow place for a jump and were told we were going to have a long wait. They were able to get someone to come sooner to jump us so that we could start our journey home.
Perfect view from the deck of the mountain and fall colors. So quiet and peaceful, especially first thing in the morning as the sun comes up. It really feels like you’re getting away from it all. Sauna and hot tub were clean and in excellent working order. About a 35 min drive to the Shenandoah Park entrance at Swift Run Gap. Property manager very quick to respond to questions.
I would like to preface this review by saying we had a nice time with family enjoying the woods and being outside exploring. That being said, l do feel like the property was overrepresented while underdelivering for the price of the listing. To be fair, all of the items and ammenities listed were available, but the pictures were representative of a well-kept, modern, spacious, high-end home; in person there was room for improvement. There were a number of nuisance items including a broken storm door, slow drains, dirty throw blankets, cobwebs/spiders, and strong septic smell in the outdoor area that made our stay less enjoyable. The only major concern I had was the safety of the stairs to the basement for children or elderly guests.Definitely follow safety guidelines regarding bears when visiting as there was clear evidence overnight of bears trying to get into garbage cans. The Wi-Fi worked very well and provided a fast internet connection for streaming, and the game room was very fun.
Me and my beautiful wife had a amazing stay in the peaceful mountain getaway. The house was perfect, the sauna was a great addition to the deck and the views were spectacular. Casey, the owner, was quick to respond to any questions we had about the property and was a pleasure to communicate with. The game room downstairs was a big hit as well. The only problem we had was, we wish we stayed longer. It was a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of this crazy world. I could def. see us book here again in the future.
Lovely private, wooded retreat at the top! Sparkling clean and the hosts thought of every detail. Loved the firepit and hottub with a view. Hosts were very communicative and had tips for optimizing the stay. We will be back.
Jess and Casey are great hosts. They are very responsive to messages and are there to help in every way. The rental was clean and well organized. We loved the decor. The outside seating area with swings, and fire pit was a must for the chilly evenings and to watch the sunset. The downstairs game room was fun to utilize. We loved our stay at the Blue Ridge Lodge.
This place was unbelievable. Picture perfect, location was perfect for the view, privacy, relaxing and quiet atmosphere. The adventure driving to the place was stressful with the steep mountain and narrow road. Overall the trip was 5 stars.
Nice stay. House was pretty and clean. Hot tub and sauna were great after day of paddling and biking. Roads were rough getting in for my camper van. Had an overall good stay. Even saw a shooting star! Host accommodated an early check in and late check out!
Overall my family enjoyed our stay here. One note is that the indoor stairs down to the ground level (game room level) are very steep, even for able-bodied adults. If you have little people or folks with mobility challenges, the stairs may be a challenge.
We loved staying here! Far enough away to feel relaxed but everything you need to be comfortable. Internet was top notch. The views were stunning. Owners are easy to communicate with and very accommodating. 4 wheel drive is a must in wet weather! Will definitely come again
Perfect end to our road trip through the national parks. House is up in the mountains, full of amenities, clean and is exactly as shown. Warnings about the road and speed limit are accurate, however we had no issues running into town for anything we needed. This is a really convenient location to enjoy Shenandoah National Park as well as the local caverns, plenty to do around the area for people that enjoy our outdoors. Easy drive to take the kids for river activities. Hosts were lovely, very communicative and did an exceptional job making this house comfortable.
Beautiful property. The outside space was great and the hot tub was fun. The living area, dining and kitchen was nice and spacious. The bathrooms were both like new. The bedrooms were small but adequate. The playroom was super fun. The only thing that I would change would be to brighten up the downstairs bedroom. The paint, curtains and comforter were all dark which made for a very dark room. Everything was great otherwise
We had a wonderful time celebrating our 17th anniversary over 5 nights at this property. The drive up is as described. It was dry our entire stay and only 4H was required, but 4L would be necessary during wet conditions or inclement weather. The roads are well maintained and we witnessed everyone abiding the 15mph limit. Bottom line is be prepared with the correct vehicle and ability to use it-this is on a mountain not a flat track. We intentionally look for adventures so this property is perfect. It’s all worth it when you get to the lodge! Well appointed in each room from all the kitchen utensils to blankets for indoors and out. We enjoyed the hot tub and multiple fires under the shooting stars. We got lost on country roads, fished the river, and watched our pup take in the Shanendoah. We loved the mural outside and all the decor inside. We even got to try the brand new fancy espresso and latte maker which really starts the day properly on a porch with that view! We appreciate the anti slip pads on the stairs going up from the bottom floor-yes, they’re steep, but the rail and pads function as designed! The location is perfect for exploring the region. If you need to restock or stop on the way in there are multiple grocery stores nearby. The hosts were excellent during our stay and helped us maximize our plans. We travel up and down Appalachia and have really grown fond of Shenandoah certainly due in part to this property, so thank you to the hosts!
It's a beautiful property with a beautiful view in one direction and sheltered by trees in the other directions. The drive there lived up to the previous reviews of excitement and occasional peril (exagerating, but it was an adventure, even in a truck). It does take a bit of time to get up and down from the property so it's great if you want to go up and hang out, but less convenient if you are planning on multiple outings or coming and going frequently. The house was clean and nicely furnished. We had everything we needed, and enjoyed some thoughtful touches that were a nice bonus. One thing that struck me immediatley upon entry was how much the photos distored the size. I should have realized a wide angle lens would do that, but it was an unexpected quick transition from visual expectations to the reality of the space. Bedrooms were tight with the queen and full beds essentially filling the space. The bunk room offered a little more floor space, but just know that the main family/ dining area is the only space that can actually accomodate a large group. I had anticipated spending a lot of time with our family of six in the game room and that simply wasn't possible. We used it two or three at a time, and that was about capacity. We did have one little dishwasher issue that was caused by the previous renter, and the owners explained it well. Overall, a really nice stay, that is even nicer if size expectations are managed in advance. :)

My family and I stayed at this property for a week while we toured the Shenandoah Valley and the National Park. Here are the pros and cons of this property from our perspective. Pros: The kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans and utensils. The outdoor space was very nice with comfortable seating, a grill, and fire pit. The hot tub was clean. The decorations in the home and around the property were tastefully chosen. Cons: The drive to the property is about 10 mins or so on a steep gravel road. One section is so steep I doubted we could climb it in our van if it rained. The host did list this detail in the description but I was under the impression snow or ice would be too difficult for a two wheel drive vehicle, not rain also. Highly recommend a four wheel drive vehicle. Our next big con is the condition of the home. It was not very clean when we checked in, dog hair on the furniture, dusty surfaces, dirty sheets and dirty walls. The house is also quite small. We thought the pictures made the space appear larger and in better condition. There are a couple places where drywall work was never finished such as the downstairs ceiling and around the electrical panel. Trim, flooring and finishes are all pretty cheap. We don’t think the price being charged reflects the house condition. In summary we enjoyed our time in the Valley, however we would not recommend this property.
