This was our 2nd stay in this beautiful cabin, we brought our grandkids last year and they requested the same cabin. It’s perfect for kids and adults. So many towels which I truly appreciate and everything else you need for a great stay. Thank y’all so much.
We loved our stay at The Plaid Bear! The views out the floor to ceiling windows were breathtaking, especially with the fall colors! The location is convenient to both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The hot tub was wonderful. We were disappointed the fireplace did not work, but hopefully that will be fixed soon. It is a beautiful place.
This lovely cabin was more than we had hoped for! The quiet location, beautiful accommodations and wonderful communication with the owners made our stay perfect!
Beds were so comfortable, televisions aplenty, decor was modern rustic, loved all the woodwork throughout. We enjoyed playing pinball machines and foosball and relaxing in the hot tub. It was the perfect getaway and can not wait to return to this beautiful property!
Thank you Kari!
This cabin is AMAZING! It is even better in person. It was super clean and furnished so well. The loft bedroom is wonderful! I could have spent my whole vacation upstairs in the loft. The shower was wonderful. The tub was amazing after spending the day in the mountains. The remote-control fan was the icing on the cake! Great host, excellent communication, breathtaking cabin. Just book it! You will not be disappointed.
There isn’t a single complaint I could think of about The Plaid Bear. I’m a hospitality professional, so I tend to have an eye for things in rentals that aren’t exactly perfect, but for the first time ever, I found nothing! We go to Gatlinburg twice a year, every year, and this has been by far my favorite cabin we have ever rented. From the appearance, to the cleanliness, to the bed/bath linen - pure perfection. Kari has also been phenomenal and responded to our every question or request.
I can’t wait to return!
The property was very nice. We enjoyed our stay. It is nicely furnished, we had everything we needed as far as dishes, cups, pots, pans, utensils, etc...We enjoyed the peace and quiet while hanging out on both decks. We loved the loft bedroom and bathroom. The lower level bedroom and bathroom were also very nice. We also enjoyed the hot tub. We even played some of the video games, which was fun. There is another cabin next door but that didn't bother us. We never saw or heard any of the occupants. We did have a deer come by for a visit one morning during our stay. It's a short drive to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The host was very accommodating and answered all questions promptly. The only drawback we had during our stay, was there was an issue with the properties propane tank which kept us from being able to use the fireplace. That was a bummer. If you are planning on staying during the winter months, and there might be a remote chance of snow, make sure you have a four wheel drive, the initial hill coming off of the main road is substantial. I would recommend staying here.
The drive up to the cabin is interesting, but the cabin is worth it. The pictures do not do it justice. We really enjoyed our stay and would rent again if in the area.
The cabin was pretty amazing! The beds were super comfy which made it was hard to get up in the morning. The view made you feel you were in a treehouse. We would definitely stay here again!
The Sorrells
Don’t book this place because we want it once a year and we don’t need you taking our week! We loved the place! Beautiful scenery. Cabin is beautiful and decorated nicely. Owners were great communicators. Very impressed and happy with our experience.
Communication was great and check in very easy. Loved the house, the location and the fact that it seemed "away from it all", but it was near everything. We stayed 7 days and found that the house wasn't stocked well enough for that amount of time. We purchased 400 worth of groceries at the local Walmart before even arriving at the house, but when we got there realized that the only coffee pot was a Kuerig with no Kuerig pods. We had purchased regular coffee, so had to shop again for a percolating coffee pot (which we left there for the next guy). There were no spices (except salt and pepper), no oil - absolutely none of the little extras that make the first night/first morning easy while you settle in.All that was easily handled with other Walmart trips, so not a big deal. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and I highly recommend the Plaid Bear to any family that wants the quiet of being on the mountain in the trees in their down time but close to every attraction for the busy days. We went to NC one day and came home to a bear lumbering out of the woods next to the house and down the street!
If you are a picky traveler, you need to read this review.
First, we have both traveled a lot, and we are very picky. I read A LOT of reviews before I book a property. This place was absolutely amazing. I have been to the area many times, and this is the best cabin I’ve stayed in. Very clean, well stocked, awesome use of space, and beautifully decorated.
The owners do not cut corners or cheap out on anything. One weird travel thing I do is check the toilet paper. If it’s good toilet paper, you know you picked the right place. That signifies the owners take pride in the home, and care about you enjoying your time. Silly? Yes, but it’s tried and true.
It was me, my husband, and 17 year old son. I had been thinking about taking a trip for a couple months, and kept picturing a cabin with a bunch of windows, relaxing by the fire and watching it snow.
We didn’t see any snow in the forecast, but it was a good time from work, so we went anyway. News forecasted a small amount of snow here and there but didn’t expect more than a few minutes if it snowed at all. We woke up Saturday morning and it snowed for 2-3 hours and it was everything I pictured and more. Plenty to do, or nothing to do. It’s all up to you. Anyway, I hope this helps the picky travelers choose a little faster and stress a little less. I wish you many blessings and loving memories for your trip. We have plenty and will be back to make more. ❤️
My husband and I had an amazing time at this rental. The pictures don't do it justice, it's absolutely beautiful in person. The hard work that the owners have done definitely shows. The cabin was so clean and homey. You will not be disappointed in choosing this property for your stay. Far enough away to feel secluded but close enough for an easy drive. We hope to return in the future!
This has to be one of the nicest places I’ve ever rented. It was beautiful inside and out. The majority of what we need and wanted was included. It felt like home.
Look forward to coming back in the future.
