We stayed in room 210\. There were many drill holes in the walls from decorations, lamps and curtains that once used to be at those spots. The room was clean, so it is mainly an aesthetic issue. The lobby, restaurant and public area are much better maintained and look very nice. I don't understand why the rooms aren't at the same level. Would I recommend this hotel? No, I think there are better options. The restaurant is excellent. There is a very large indoor pool (plenty long enough for laps). The first floor is newly remodeled with many nice places to sit. The cons: the elevator is broken and there are many floors to climb, and one is not allowed to pull up a car in front of the hotel. Upstairs, things are run down. There are wires hanging in the hallway. Our room (at least) was super-shabby, and there was peeling paint and black mold on the bathroom ceiling. Because the automatic lock was broken on the room with Mountain View that I had reserved months before, we were put in the family room overlooking the back service area. We enjoyed very much our stay in Rondane. However, some points that can be improved upon are mentioned here 1). There was no hangers in the wardrobe, not even the pin to put hangers on (see enclosed photo). We mentioned this to the reception but they said they could do nothing (except give us one (1) extra hanger). Perhaps they misunderstood (the point being that there was no place to put the hanger on), but anyway, we find it remarkable to provide a hotel room with no space to hang clothes, in particular a hotel like this where guests are very likely to do trekking and return with wet clothes that needs to dry... 2) The breakfast didn't open until 8am. Also remarkable! I mean, people come to this kind of hotel to spend time outdoor and now we had to wait several hours before we could leave the hotel for our trekking experiences. Well, thanks to the very friendly staff we could get some breakfast a bit earlier, but still, we never been to a hotel with so late opening hours for breakfast (on a weekday) and this will be a reason to never return to this particular hotel again.
