Deep Water Cottage - House was built in 2008
Watch the dolphins play from the Master Bed. This architecturally designed deep water, 10 feet at low tide, cottage is a must see and rent. The views are absolutely stunning. The Whale Branch River can be seen from every room.
Fish, crab, boat, and swim from the dock. You can watch the sunrise and the sunset from this idealistic home. This cottage is perfect for honeymooners, parents going to see their child graduate from boot camp at Paris Island and small families looking to relax and enjoy a deepwater home in the SC lowcountry. Catch your limit of shrimp and crab right off the end of the dock! Speaking of the dock, please be aware that we have had damage during several hurricanes. The pier and dock may not be extremely sturdy. Use precaution when walking out on the dock. We would hate for anyone to get hurt! Use the docket your own risk! 😁 Our family has never had a problem, but we do share the pier with our neighbors. We try to repair as often as we can.
There is a boat landing close by in Grays Hill which is only 5 minutes from the house on the right as you drive towards Beaufort proper. You are welcome to dock your boat at the dock and your trailer in the yard as we have just bought the property around the house.
We have two screened in porches. You will enter the house in the downstairs porch. The other is upstairs which wraps around the den. The den has completely unobstructive views of the water as the exterior 'walls' are sliding glass doors that fold on themselves completely opening up the house. The den has a 42' TV and a new sofa. The bunk room is on the main floor and has two 19' TVs. There is also a 25' TV and VCR player in the master bedroom. We have just added ROKU in the den. Watch unlimited movies on Netflix. You can also watch YouTube. We do have WiFi which the password is located in the cabinet above the refrigerator on a black box. We do have 3 lounge chairs on the dock and a table with chairs to enjoy the gorgeous sunrise and sunset. We also have a few beach towels in the downstairs bathroom for renters. We do NOT have kayaks nor paddle boards though. There is a local place in town who will rent kayaks, Higher Ground.
We do have a blue TRASH bin marked “46” for our renters. You will need to take your trash to the bin. Do NOT bring it back to the house. The trash truck cannot make its way to the house. Thank you! PLEASE be mindful of this! This is very important to take the trash so others can use the bin after you!! The is a new luxury for us, and we greatly appreciate your consideration and so will our renters after you!
This house is available for a three night rental or long term rentals. Please note this is a smaller home. There is a KING size bed in the master and four twin beds in the downstairs bunk room. Large parties are not advised.
It is with great pleasure to share that Travel and Leisure magazine has voted Charleston, South Carolina the number ONE city in the WORLD to visit and Savannah, Georgia was voted number nine! Our home is located just 15 minutes from I-95 and so it is about a 45-55 minute drive to either one of these award winning cities! You can visit both of those beautiful and charming cities with ease, and don't forget Fripp Island or Hilton Head Island are a quick 30-45 minute drive also!
We do want to express that this is a rental house. Unfortunately, not all renters treat rental houses as their own. With that said, we have recently painted. We would appreciate renters to be careful while bringing luggage in and out. We have recently bought a new washer and dryer and refrigerator. A couple of years ago, we allowed a renter to bring a dog who tore our sofa. We have lived and learned from that experience. Therefore, we do NOT…under ANY circumstances allow pets. Please do not inquire about pets. That is a hard NO.
Finally, the door knobs on the sliding glass doors need to be adjusted so please be careful when opening them. These doors do not have access to the yard. They do lock but are loose. We just want to be transparent about any inadequacies.
Restaurants we suggest are: Plums on Bay Street Luther’s on Bay Street Dockside on Lady’s Island Bricks on Boundary St Yo-yos Ice cream Breakwater on Boundary St Old Bull on Scott St.
For really good prices on local seafood and bait, you HAVE to stop by HWY 21 Seafood on your way into Beaufort proper from our house. Its on the right and is tucked away so look hard! They are awesome!
Don’t forget the HWY 21 Drive-In on the right going towards Beaufort proper for a great movie! If you prefer a movie theater, you can go into Beaufort and cross over the Bay St Bridge into Lady’s Island and find a wonderful theater on the right.
Please report any other damage upon arrival!
Thank you for renting with us. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do! Please treat it as your own so others can enjoy it as well.
Thank you! Patty and Frank Lundy

This was the 3rd time we stayed at this wonderful place. We stayed for a month this time and it was great. The location can’t be beat, the beds are super comfy and it’s outfitted with everything we needed for our stay
A beautiful spot overlooking marsh and deep water tidal river. Close to Beaufort (8mi) We enjoyed the nearby spanish moss bike trail. Dock is nice for enjoying sunrises/sets and fishing.
We have stayed at this home off and on for over 13 years and love it so much. The dock and views are the best. So fun to make memories and relax with our family!
We enjoyed a very peaceful week at Deep water cottage. Our host ,Patty, was very prompt in answering the few we had. We will definitely rent again when we are in the area. Thanks for sharing your home!! Ann and Jason
The cottage was updated and very comfortable with an incredible view. The dock was great to have, we were able to successfully crab, fish, and shrimp from both the dock and our boat. The location was excellent just far enough away from the attractions to feel secluded, but not an inconvenience to go and enjoy the shopping, restaurants, and sights. Our Family of 4 really enjoyed this trip.
The fishing and crabbing was great! Perfect place for my husband and I. We loved the views throughout the house, but the master bedroom on top floor has the best view of all!
In the area for meetings , so we didn't get to spend a lot of time at the house...However, the time that was spent there was very pleasant and the views were beautiful.
Gorgeous Serene views and heavenly sunrise. Quiet and peaceful with beautiful views from the entire house. Perfect stay for my wife's birthday. Already planning the next stay. Owners are great very friendly people and care about your stay. Highly recommend.
This was our second stay in less than 12 months. We love it - well-equipped for a longer stay (we were there for a week each time), well-located and beautiful views over the marsh and river. We woke up to a giant owl perched in the tree just outside the bedroom which was fun. As w need to be in the area frequently to check on a construction project, we’ll probably book again if it’s available
We were looking for a place to stay that wasn’t a hotel. We chose the perfect place with this one. We watched dolphins swim past all day! The house was very comfortable and just what we were looking for. The property owner was in contact with us throughout our stay for anything we needed!
We immediately fell in love with the place as soon as we stepped out of the vehicle. Before we even unpacked we went out to the dock and watched the most beautiful sun set. We could not have asked for a better place to celebrate my husband and I's 10 year wedding anniversary and our youngest daughters 4th birthday. The home was charming, comfortable and surrounded enchanting views. We are already planning our next visit.
We stayed for about 10 days in mid-January so we were didn't really think we'd get to enjoy the benefits of the waterfront site. However, we loved waking to the view of the water every morning (including the occasional dolphins) and the gorgeous marsh vistas. The kitchen is well-equipped, bed was quite comfy and bathroom sizable. It was charming, quiet and everything we needed. Looking forward to booking again!
Stayed at Deep Water Cottage with 5 people. 2 parents, and 3 young kids. Scenery was great. How was kept up nicely. The current on the tidal River in front of the house was stronger than we felt comfortable with. Kids didn’t get to swim off the dock, but we visited all of the public beaches in the area. Would stay there again.
Patty was great! We were scheduled to stay for Labor Day weekend but the hurricane has us worried about travel. Patty was super understanding and gave us a full refund. We really appreciated the flexibility and understanding and plan to book with her in the future.

Perfect for hideaway!
My husband and I very much enjoyed the location and the little cottage style home... The sunrises alone are worth the price! We did have some issues with cleanliness.. dirty, sticky rug upstairs bedroom, showers and floors had to be cleaned before use downstairs...food, toys and such under sofa and side table, etc. We did communicate those things with the owner and it's been months since weve stayed there so it's probably been addressed. Fishing was zero good in May, FYI, anglers.
Property was clean and well appointed. Good communication with the property manager/owner. Pretty much 10 to 15 minutes away from anything in town. Noce quiet setting for my girlfriend and I to get away.
Note: If you're bring a boat make sure you launch it prior to getting to the property. The driveway was a tight squeeze with my boat trailer. Also, the trees hang down pretty low if you have a boat with a t top it might not make it.
We have stayed at this cottage many times over many years...and plan to do so for years to come. It is a simple cottage, small, but very well-appointed, situated on a private piece of property. Nice primary suite and a bunk room for four. The grounds are nicely maintained.
It has a private dock and an outstanding view out along the Whale Branch River. Fish, crab and shrimp right off the dock and a boat ramp a few minutes down the river is easily accessed. Dolphins are very frequent visitors (every day of every trip I have spent there), often right beside the dock!
The owners are very friendly and helpful and take whatever steps are needed to make sure your experience is great.
There are few properties anywhere in the region that can match what it has to offer.

Ok stay
My family and I stayed at this house last year. Everything was perfect, so we booked again for this year. This years stay was not so good. The owners never responsed back to my message nor heard from the entire stay. The house was in need of a deep clean. Dead bugs and dust were on window ledges. Damp towels were left in dryer from previous guest. Wet floor mat was left in washer. Dirty sheets and childs socks were at left at end of buckbed mattress. Outside windows had a green mossy film. We were so disappointed, but made the most of out family trip.
