Each apartment has its own bbq, private terrace or small garden and private acesss. The rest of the gardens and pool are shared. Secluded in twenty acres of peaceful woodland and paddocks, this Catalan farmhouse will be your private slice of rural bliss. We give you everything you'll need to feel at home, while still enjoying the comforts and ease of hotel-style convenience: from the WiFi internet with coverage in all areas and complementary toiletries to your own fully equipped kitchen - we have everything down to salad spinners, garlic crushers and even chef grade knives - if there's anything we forgot, tell us and we'll get one for you! Depending on the season, there is plenty of fresh and wild produce on the grounds. Fig, cherry, plum, walnut, apple, quince, persimmon and pomegranate trees line our hedgerows and wild asparagus, mushrooms and herbs are all in abundance. We also have a cute little herb garden to add the final touches to your cooking. And once you have cooked up a wonderful meal why don't you eat out on your private terrace alfresco style. Our large swimming pool has views up to the imposing peaks of the mountains or down to the valley beyond. The pool has been recently extended and renovated to incorporate a garden area and a new design giving you plenty of scope to choose the best place for you to relax in the sun or cool off in the pool. We have a separate paddock which includes a bbq and children's area also. The children's area boasts a sandpit, swings, trampoline, playhouses and other toys. A great place to keep the little ones entertained for a while! If you'd like us to point you on some of the local trails from the house, just let us know! You can pop down to the rock pools for a swim or head upwards for mountain trails within the pines. If you decide to come to us during the colder months why not enjoy the wood burning stove with free provision of wood that will leave you super toasty day and night. We are looking forward to hosting all future guests at Can Cruanyes. Please note if you are bringing a pet there is a separate charge of 8 euros per day per pet. There is a maximum of 2 pets. We arrived to be welcomed warmly by Donny, who is a charming and friendly guy. He and his wife Sibhan have created a great mountain retreat in the ideal location to explore the Pyrennees and surrounding countryside. The area is fantastic for walking and cycling (if you are pretty fit!), but is equally beautiful to explore by car. We also made a trip to the coast and found a delightful (uncommercial) beach, as advised in the house's file of useful information. It took us well under an hour to get there on very easy speedy roads. Also, the local medieval towns and villages offer great places to eat, drink and explore. We stayed in 'Holly' - my husband and I with our 12 year old son. It was very comfortable for the three of us. The beds were comfortable and the house was well kitted out with everything we needed for our 5 night stay. I would suggest if you can, stop en route at the Spar Supermarket in Besalu to get provisions. We enjoyed time on the terrace each evening with a bottle of wine, which does get some sun through the day, and could just see the beautiful mountains from the very slightly over enclosed small terrace (I do understand why the fence has been put up, to give more privacy). We spent a good deal of time by the pool, which is a beautiful place to sit and take a dip in what was apparently unusually hot weather at over 37 degrees c.
