Finca El Olivar is a luxurious, spacious and extremely comfortable, four bedroom finca set within its own olive grove and surrounded by rolling farmland with panoramic views of the mountains of the Serranía de Ronda, Sierra de las Nieves and Grazelema National Park. Decorated in a soothing palette of white and muted colours, with whitewashed beams and terracotta floors throughout, the finca is beautifully and luxuriously furnished in a rustic contemporary style with design classics, vintage pieces and original artwork. The house is exceptionally comfortable and well-appointed with a well equipped kitchen, hotel quality mattresses and linens, thick, fluffy towels and glorious bathrooms. Ideally located, in the highly sought after, unspoilt, los Frontones area, within walking distance of a fabulous hotel restaurant, the finca is rural, tranquil and completely private, yet has easy access to the beautiful, medieval city of Ronda, (one of the finest pueblos blancos), and the many charms of Andalucia; Ronda is less than ten minutes away and the lively village of Arriate only five. Escape the stresses of modern life in total luxury and peace - The atmosphere is extremely calming and everything is on hand for a fabulously relaxing holiday. Superbly suited to family get-togethers or romantic getaways, with its thick walls, shady terraces and air conditioning, the house stays cool even in the height of summer. THE HOUSE Luxury holiday accommodation with a mix of rustic Mediterranean and design classics. The house is luxuriously furnished and beautifully decorated in a contemporary style to create a large, comfortable home with a layout that is ideal for families or groups of friends but is also suited to a romantic break for two. DOWNSTAIRS From the south terrace, antique double doors open onto the entrance hall with a beautifully decorated, separate wc (handily close to the pool). Double doors open into the kitchen and beyond the wide staircase, double doors open into the sitting room. The large, airy, open plan sitting room leads onto the dining area and kitchen and has views through the french doors onto the south terrace overlooking the pool and garden and double doors out to the east terrace with its huge oak dining table looking towards the olive grove. With a luxuriously proportioned linen sofa for total relaxation, a desk area for those that must catch up on a few things or write a postcard home and an open plan layout that is great for families, the sitting room is perfect for large groups. With Wi-fi throughout, a naim audio wireless music system, smart tv, DVD player and a wide selection of games for all ages there is something to keep everyone happy. Original artwork, antique pieces and vintage finds sit comfortably alongside more contemporary pieces. For the cooler months there is a large wood burning stove. The dining area seats up to ten and lies at the very centre of the house, connecting the kitchen and sitting room and inviting evening games and leisurely meals. A door leads out to the shady north side of the house with lovely views of the hills. This is the ideal spot for a little solitude. The kitchen is beautifully integrated into the open plan layout and equipped for the keenest cook. French doors lead onto the west terrace with stunning mountain views, perfect for a relaxing drink at sunset. The kitchen has a dishwasher, wine cooler, a Neff induction hob and oven and Gaggia Bean to cup coffee maker whilst the well stocked pantry houses a microwave, food blender and American style fridge freezer with integrated ice maker. UPSTAIRS All four bedrooms have air-conditioning for the long, hot summers and heating for the short, frosty winters. Shutters ensure a good night’s sleep, as do the luxuriously comfortable, hotel standard, pocket sprung mattresses and Egyptian cotton bed linen. All bedding is hypoallergenic with lightweight duvets for the summer and thick, cosy duvets for the winter. Cool terracotta floors, high, sloping ceilings with whitewashed beams and natural materials create a very restful atmosphere. The bathrooms are luxuriously styled with beautiful tiles, hotel standard fittings and sumptuous Egyptian cotton towels. The romantic and spacious master bedroom has a super kingsize oak, four poster bed with luxurious mattress topper, muslin drape and views of the mountains to the west. The ensuite bathroom has a stone resin freestanding bath and hand shower with views over the garden and olive groves beyond that invites a leisurely soak. Limestone tiles and a stone sink create a rustic feel to this room. The master bedroom has a lovely seating area, a fitted wardrobe and is equipped with hairdryer and ghd straighteners. Bedroom two has gorgeously comfortable zip and link beds that can be arranged as either twin beds or as a luxurious emperor sized bed. A lovely daybed that is also a full size single can make this a triple room. Spacious and comfortable, in the style of a boutique hotel, this room has a full length mirror and fitted wardrobe. Bedroom three has fabulous views to the south, a luxuriously comfortable double bed and fitted wardrobe. Decorated in a pared back, modern style, in a soothing, neutral palette, bedroom three has original artwork and etchings by a local artist and several carefully selected antiques. Bedroom four also has stunning views, a superbly comfortable double bed with cotton mosquito net (this is fully functional but there are no mosquitoes in the area) a vintage school desk and quirky little features. This room tidily houses a range of books, toys and art materials but is also suitable for adults. The main bathroom has double sinks and a fabulous walk in shower and is simple and pared back, decorated in clean white with matt white tiles and hotel standard fittings. THE GARDEN Relax in the secluded and enclosed garden by the large, private pool with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Set within two acres of organic olive groves, the grounds of El Olivar have been designed for outdoor living and making the very most of time spent with family and friends. The large, enclosed, totally private and well equipped garden has ample furniture and an expansive lawn surrounding the 10m x 5m private pool. With views in every direction, there are terraces on each side of the house offering plenty of choice for both sun and shade and seamlessly connecting the inside and outside spaces. Facing south, the largest, vine covered terrace, has two sofas looking towards the pool, over olive groves and farmland to the city of Ronda. This is the perfect place to sit and read or enjoy a well-earned snooze in the shade. Or, if you are feeling a bit more energetic, you can enjoy a game of ping pong on the fabulous outdoor table tennis table. To the east is the main dining terrace with a handcrafted oak table that comfortably seats ten and invites long, relaxing mealtimes at the edge of the olive grove. With a barbeque, outdoor paella burner and herbs within picking distance, this is the ideal setting for family and friends to gather. On the north side are lovely views to the hills behind the house, this uncovered, but often shady, terrace has a large flat area perfect for a spot of petanque. The west terrace has double doors that lead directly into the kitchen with an oak dining table, cork stools and Fermob sofa and armchairs from which to watch the sunsets and soak up the glorious views of the mountains of the Serranía de Ronda. The large, bamboo covered pergola at the pool’s shallow end has a new double daybed with soft mattress and superb views towards the mountains in the west. Parasols and six comfortable wooden loungers surround the pool and encourage lazy afternoons. The pool itself is 5m x 10m with steps into the shallow end and is perfect for a cooling dip and large enough for more serious exercise. Approached via a single track road, the finca sits in an unspoilt area of outstanding beauty. Throughout the day there is ample shade to keep cool and perhaps have a siesta and of course, there is plenty of sun. The home looks nothing like the pristine pictures.We’ve done home stays around the world & even rented our own home, so we know the challenges. However, this was our worst experience ever. We booked a week,but left early.No one met us at the house. There were no entry instructions and when we called Hilde from the road, she said she sent everything to my WhatsApp account, which I have not used in years and never sent as a contact. She was irritated by the call, mentioning several times she was at work and “couldn’t talk”. The entry to the house was not straightforward so not a stress-free arrival. The house was cold and boiler turned off. Half the lights in this very dark house don’t work. The musty smell of the house is horrible! Even worse the waste smell from the bathrooms. -The grout in the main bath is black,the drain cover is broken so you stand on a sharp, exposed opening while showering. The bottom of the master sink is BLACK! All the furniture is stained, the pool loungers broken.The narrow dirt road to house is pot-holed, stressful & 20 minutes to town. The house is marketed by the owner as a lovingly maintained family home yet they have not visited for over a year. Homes are like people…in need of constant upkeep and TLC. They cannot be ignored for long periods of time and then expected to be at their best. Note: we have many pictures to prove our points but not allowed to post. ##### Sara L. Well designed and managed home, it’s clear the owners have great taste and appreciate quality, from the kitchen appliances to the bedding, everything was comfortable and high end. The setting is truly amazing - quiet, beautiful, very pleasant in every way. The pool was a huge plus for our family and we enjoyed many hours outside around the pool or on one of the several beautiful patios. Séjour de 7 nuits en juillet 2021 ### 10/10 – Excellent #### Simon W. 2 oct. 2020 Points forts : Propreté #### A truly fantastic home away from home We had delayed our holiday at El Olivar from June to actually start in September 2020 hoping that COVID-19 might be a distant memory by then and Lucy was very accommodating in allowing us to do so. That obviously didn't work out quite as planned but it really shouldn't put you off staying here either. Going during a pandemic might be the best decision you make; I think it was ours! The villa was beautifully prepared for our arrival and is set in the countryside with little or no contact with anyone locally. The check-in process is very easy and again Lucy and Hilde couldn't have helped more, adjusting things to our amended flight details and arrival time. The villa itself was clean, spacious, very comfortable and had everything we could want. Rustic charm with all the mod cons and interesting original artwork dotted around. The pool was divine and the three terraces meant we could take advantage of the beautiful views, glorious weather and magnificent sunsets. There were also outdoor blankets to keep the evening chill off and yoga mats for the yogis in our group too. So if you don't want to leave the villa then there's no real need to do so as it has everything you need for a safe and enjoyable stay. However, never leaving the villa is to miss a trick or two. The delights of Ronda are around a 10 minute drive away and what surprised all in our party was how safe we felt walking around the sights. Everyone, young and old, wear masks all the time and one of the only benefits of being in a pandemic was, we seemed to have seen the town at its best i.e. tourist free! What a fantastic holiday and one that will stay long in the memory for all the right reasons. Trust me, book it now, you won't be disappointed. ##### Simon W. The house is perfection. There is plenty of space and all details have been thought through with consideration. We were there in January so were able to make use of the log burning fire. Owners are responsive and attentive without being intrusive. Bedrooms are all incredibly well equipped with gorgeous crisp bedding, hotel-style towels and robes. When we arrived a basket of provisions had been provided which was warmly welcomed. The grounds of the house are beautiful and peaceful, there are local farms which provide the morning soundtrack and Ronda is only a short drive. The handbook provided is the most complete guide I have ever seen, any question can be answered in that book including some wonderful recommendations. If we are ever back in the region (and the house is available) we would not think twice about booking. Thank you for a wonderful time. ##### Alexander S. The house is beautifully designed, highly functional and in excellent condition. Three families (6 adults and 2 children who were part of our group) stayed very comfortably. The house, the area, the views....just perfect for a special holiday away from the buzzy tourism but still only 15min away from the main center. Wine cooler, big kitchen, Music equipment, TV, WIFI, BBQ and of course loads and loads of Private garden and terrace space to enjoy! There was a small incident with the Boiler on our day of arrival, but thanks to the team led by property manager Hilde everything was sorted in the quickest and best way possible! The guidebook she has created includes hidden treasures, locations , recimmendations for fine food, experiences, activities. We hit every one of her Highly recommended restaurants in Ronda and Arriate. Truly spect liar culinary experiences. We found the house and the pool soo delightful we barely left the property. There is a huge porch which is covered from the sun which my husband and I read books, napped etc. our 3 kids (age14,12,8) loved the pool, ping pong table, sleeping in super late every day in the individually air conditioned rooms w top quality beds and linens. Hilde was available and engaged and help us w all sorts of needs and arrangements. Location is perfect as you are remote enough that you can't see a soul from the house so gave complete getaway and retreat. Hop in the car and you are in the heart of Ronda in15 minutes.
