Inside the villa

Blending breezy island style with the sights and sounds of the Caribbean, The Mollusk is thoughtfully designed for effortless indoor-outdoor living.

The airy primary suite features a king bed, en-suite bathroom, walk-in closet, and French doors that open directly onto the oceanview pool deck. Two additional guest rooms—each with a queen bed and closet—also offer French doors that lead to the front porch, giving everyone a quiet retreat of their own. A second full bathroom ensures convenience for all guests. 

Gather in the comfortable central living room, cook meals in the fully equipped kitchen, and choose between indoor or oceanview dining—there’s a screened dining space in front of the pool that’s ideal for laid-back meals with a view. Modern comforts include air conditioning in all bedrooms and the main living area, cable TV, and fiberoptic Wi-Fi. 

Outdoor spaces

Outside, the private oceanview pool takes center stage on the deck, framed by a plush outdoor sofa and a hammock in the shade—perfect for afternoon naps. A second, lower deck features a BBQ grill and an outdoor dining table, giving you even more space to gather and unwind.

Just steps away is the shared community dock, where you'll find some of the island’s best snorkeling right off shore, with vibrant coral and marine life waiting to be discovered. (Snorkel gear not provided—please bring your own.)

Please note: This home is best suited for travelers, not tourists—those who appreciate simplicity, self-sufficiency, and the charm of casual island living versus luxury, nightlife, or concierge-style service. If you value nature, seclusion, independence, and meaningful island experiences, you’ll feel right at home.

Guest access

Your reservation at The Mollusk grants you exclusive access to the villa, grounds, and pool. From the moment you arrive until your departure, the amenities at our seaside retreat are yours to enjoy.

Exclusions: Please note that access to the detached garage is restricted. This area is designated for owner's storage and is not included in the guest-accessible spaces. There is ample parking for 2 vehicles in the driveway.

Privacy: While visits for pool cleaning and yardcare occur several times a week, we believe in providing you with the utmost privacy during your stay.

The neighborhood

Tucked along Roatan’s south shore, Lower First Bight is peaceful and off the beaten path—yet just 15 minutes from the restaurants, grocery stores, and essentials in French Harbour.

The rugged coastline, swaying palms, and sea views create a laid-back, natural vibe. A shared community dock gives you easy ocean access for a swim, snorkel, or just soaking in the view.

With a geographically central location on the island, lower First Bight is a great base for exploring Roatan from end to end. Head east for hidden gems, west for touristy highlights, or simply enjoy the peace of your own quiet corner.

That said, it’s not for everyone. If you’re after nightlife, walkable activities & restaurants, or resort-style service, this might not be your scene. This is a place for travelers who enjoy nature, don’t mind driving, and prefer a self-sufficient, laid-back stay.

Electricity & Water Conservation
Roatan's electricity is privately supplied and costly, and water is a precious resource. We appreciate your help in conserving both. The Mollusk is designed to capture the easterly trade winds, and many guests enjoy using natural ventilation instead of A/C when the weather allows. Please ensure all windows and doors are kept closed while air conditioners are running, and be sure to turn them off whenever you go out. PLEASE NOTE: Excessive or improper A/C use (such as leaving them on continuously throughout your stay, or with windows and doors open) will result in additional charges.

Power & Internet Interruptions
Due to the island's infrastructure, we occasionally experience power or internet outages. These are infrequent and typically brief, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.

Housekeeping
Your cleaning fee covers full cleaning before check-in and after checkout. Mid-stay cleanings (including linen & towel laundering) can be arranged for an additional fee, based on availability. Self-serve laundry facilities are also available in-unit, if you'd like to refresh your wardrobe or your own linens.
