The beach, called Praia do Forte or Canto do Forte, has calm waves (usually up to 1m), soft sand that is great for walking, and is close to the Atlantic Forest — perfect for swimming and water sports.  
  
The waterfront is equipped with a wide boardwalk, a bike path along the seafront, kiosks, lifeguards and outdoor gyms, and remains clean and organized even during high season.  
  
The main street is Avenida Marechal Mallet, with a bike path, landscaping with native trees (brazilwood, ipê, jackfruit) and a lively nightlife in bars and restaurants.  
  
The neighborhood has well-kept squares, such as Praça Duque de Caxias (with a historic military cannon, skating rink and great sunsets) and Praça Paul Harris.  
  
It is well served by local businesses — supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, boutiques (such as Boutique do Peixe, a market specializing in fresh fish) and convenience stores.
