The staff were amazing - welcoming, friendly, cheerful, just lovely to be around. The food was amazing. The 4 cheese tortellini in particular was out of this world. The only issue I had was the striped carpet on the stairs. For some reason, it was really disorienting. I thought it was just me (I recently got new vari-focal glasses) but my husband thought the same.

Excellent service; really friendly and helpful people - thanks for an enjoyable stay. Well located right on front between central Penzance and Newlyn. Main hotel spaces are light and spacious; nice venue for the good breakfast. Only giving 4 stars because bedroom in Annex was small, with small window (above head-height) and v. warm in July - it’s expensive for a room of that size and comfort.

Staff were very nice and helpful. Coffees and teas available all day which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was really good, (compliments to the chef) and the hotel entrance is decorated nicely. However the room was dated and disappointing. Cleaniness is not a priority unfortunately. The towels were stained, the bathroom door would not close, bathroom curtain was stained, hairs in the bathroom and on one of the towels, bathroom sink had a crack in it and one of the taps was broken, cobwebs and dust in the bathroom and bedroom, broken lamp shades. Overall it was ok but the rooms need a revamp and better cleaning.

A very nice hotel in a great location! When we got there, we found that we had been booked into a very small room, but upon talking to the receptionist, she booked us in a much nicer room for a very modest up charge. Breakfast was very good and included both hot and cold options for the same price.

The hotel looks a wee bit tired but the location is excellent. The views over the bay are stunning and you have direct access to the south west coastal path. There was a problem with our room but we were moved to another room. The room decor is lovely. Staff helpful and friendly

We had a beach view room and it was amazing to look at the sea from the second floor. Breakfast was included within the superior room at a premium rate, but it was worth to pay more for the view. There was always water and ice tea at the counter and coffee machine available to get hot drinks at any time, which was great. Overall it was a great stay.

Good location on the promenade. Most staff generally very enthusiastic and helpful Room was generally good and comfortable. Good supply of tea and coffee making material and crisps and biscuits. However I needed to report that the bathroom door would not close properly. Bath sink looked cracked and shabby Breakfast on day 1 went smoothly. Table was laid and the hostess on duty was very helpful and keen. Breakfast on day 2 not so good. Arrived in the dining room to find plenty of empty tables but none had been cleared away and relaid. Had to sit at one with dirty plates and cups and cutlery. No orange juice available until asked for. There were no croissants at the buffet breakfast and when my wife asked she was told that there werent any. Hostess seemed more interested in her phone messages than looking after customers. But apart from the glitches outlined and the expensive bar drinks our stay was OK

3/5 – Decent stay, but tight on space Overall an okay experience. The room was quite small for two people on a week-long trip — storage was limited and we genuinely struggled to find space to open and access our suitcases properly. It's also not a modern hotel, though that's probably fairly typical for the area. There's also no lift, which made carrying heavy luggage up to the room a real struggle. The hotel is right next to a main road, so it was noisy even with the windows closed. On the plus side, the staff were helpful throughout, and the chef was friendly and made a nice impression. The location is a real strength — easy access to both bus and train, so getting around Penzance and beyond was convenient. Given the price we paid, though, it didn't quite feel like it matched the value — for the cost, I'd have expected a bit more in terms of room size and amenities.

I have no idea how this property is rated a four-star hotel. If it were advertised as three-star, I would not feel the need to complain - but neither would I have stayed here. We booked in for one night as we came to watch a rugby match that evening. It is a three-minute walk to the stadium and situated right on the sea front. That is where the positives end. At first we thought it was a nice and traditional seaside hotel (with an actual key to lock and unlock our room) - but our opinion quickly changed. Put simply, the facilities were really old, small, and not maintained: the shelf above the sink was falling off, the TV did not work properly, and multiple things were broken in our room. Additionally, there was no mini-fridge, air conditioning, noise-cancellation, ironing board, or bed-side plug socket in our room. Furthermore, breakfast was served in the kitchen and was not up to a good standard. Staff also made no effort to accomodate us with any (fairly standard) requests - one Indian receptionist could barely speak English and did not even seem to know what a 'pizza' is. This was all made worse by the fact we paid £224.10 for a double room (with a sea view) for one night believing it was a four-star hotel. This should be a budget three-star property at most. We have stayed in much better places in more affluent areas for much cheaper prices. The current rating and price does not reflect this hotel in any way. Avoid.

Don't know where to start... I booked a standard double room, based on the pictures I saw online. They should have to tell you there isn't enough room to have a full size suitcase and 2 adults in this room.the bed was so close to the wall it was hard to get in and out of bed. We had to rig a little corner shelf they had for tea and coffee to make our case fit. If you were just there for a night with a backpack fine, but we were traveling from the states for 2 weeks, so a big case was needed. The room itself was very clean, the bathroom was very roomy and bright. We did ask if there were other rooms available, unfortunately not for the first 2 nights, then we were able to move up to a king room. What a great room that was. The staff here was great. The breakfast was very good
