Explore the town of Kuusamo and stop in the peaceful Kuusamo Park, on the edge of a tranquil lake inlet. The long park space offers a walking trail, a sports stadium and several ways for children to have fun. Come here to relax or to release some energy by playing games on the banks of a lake. Follow a path through the park, which runs parallel to the busy street of Kitkantie. The path skirts the edge of a section of Kuusamojärvi Lake and crosses onto a lake island. Pause to rest by the lake or in the grounds of scenic Kuusamo Church. The church houses two 300-year old bells that were hidden during World War II. The path passes a running track and a football field, as well as a small beach area where you can paddle in the water on hot days. Enjoy the small patches of forest that line the pathways running along the narrow park. At the far northern end of the park, find a sports center that has a swimming pool and tennis courts. The main attraction for families in the park is a small play area where younger children can ride small vehicles. Rent pedal-karts, then ride around miniature roads in races with other children. Karting is only available in good weather. The park also features a playground with swings and climbing frames. Drive to Kuusamo Park and leave your car in any of the parking spaces along the edge of the lake. Alternatively, walk here after a shopping trip on the main street of Kitkantie, which has fashion outlets and cafés. Buses run along this street, making the park accessible via public transportation.
