Self service check in, room could do with a bit of an update, paint peeling off the ceiling, we had to jam the door with a business card to stop it rattling in the wind, but it was good for what we paid for! It was cheap & cheerful! Clean bedding and comfy bed! Would we stay again?? Yes!!
Room is simple but we had exectly what we needed, The only issue was the sliding door for the bathroom that had difficulty to close due to missing handle from the inside. That should be looked at but otherwise was perfect for what we needed for a 1 night stay. Bed was comfortable, room was clean, hot water, good water pressure even on top floor, quiet room. Staff is exceptionally friendly from check in experience to bar service and breakfast. We opted to have breakfast for an additional fee which 100% did worth it. We also had a burger for dinner and it was delicious and reasonably priced. We will def return if in the area again.
Breakfast was amazing. The staff are very very friendly and helpful. The one downside I did have was literally I didn’t have an ensuite bathroom. I had to use a communal down the hall shower room and toilet other than that I can’t fault the place this is Jason the Chef
Really convenient and well appointed hotel in the centre of New Romney. My room was a single on the second floor. Small but totally functional with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent.
Very friendly and helpful people. We got back late after dinner service closed, but plates and cutlery were offered so we could eat a takeaway in their dining area. Very clean room and very comfortable

Couldn’t fault the staff, the room was a little small even for a single person.
No receptionist at hotel but girls in the bar next door were so friendly and helpful, sorted out our room key and contacted the owner for us. Would definitely prefer to speak to someone on arrival rather than checking in via phone. Breakfast starts at 9am on Sundays so we were unable to wait as had long drive and needed to get going. Otherwise it’s a lovely place to stay. Look forward to next time.
The room was immaculate. You can tell whoever runs this hotel really cares, the way it had been styled felt like you were staying at a friends home rather than a hotel. Towels and bedding smelt so fresh!
A ten minute walk from the beach, and a minute walk from the steam train station. Everything was so clean and tidy, bed was extremely comfortable, and the room had lovely attentions to detail.
We are quite private people, so being able to check in via text was fantastic, and to be able to come and go as we please without worry of a curfew.
Additionally, I loved being able to see and hear the steam trains form the windows. Felt magical.
Would 100% stay again.

It’s not like staying at a Premier Inn or Travelodge but does the job. Could do with some updating and don’t expect an early breakfast as it starts at 9am.
You get what you pay for to be honest and the bed was comfy, loo, shower there so just what you need essentially. Wi-Fi just didn’t work in my room which I’m guessing was because I was at the top so a boaster would help. Replenishing of tea and coffee, biscuits etc in the room would be great.
Ideally located just a 15 mins walk to the beach which is lovely and quiet and easy to find.
Finally need a better way to lock and unlock guests in at night as I was trapped and couldn’t get out of the pub at around 8.30am as the cleaners hadn’t unlocked the door so I was shouting and banging to get attention.
If you’re looking for a basic stay for a night or two I would recommend for the price charged. Staff are lovely, helpful but the room needs the paint in the bathroom sorted as it’s peeling etc.
Nice n convenient small room and part of a pub so a couple of cold fruity pints were easily demolished as was the excellent eggs on toast I had ,cooked freshly in the morning....and just as importantly, there is no curfew" you are an adult and they treat you like one....
Perfect for a stop over. Clean room. Opposite historic train station and got to see the steam train go past, which was a bonus. 😊

After climbing 2 flights of stairs and entering the room we felt really disappointed. The bed linen had not been ironed and was really creased up. It made me question if it had been changed at all. The coat hangers where all different which didn't look nice. The toilet seat was loose. The housekeepers didn't ask if we needed anything as we stayed 2 nights. The owner walked into our room looking for the housekeepers and didn't knock, however he did get a fan for us for the second night as it was so hot. The pub staff were very friendly but the pub was nothing to do with the hotel. We waited about 20 mins after sitting at a table for breakfast but gave up and went elsewhere....nobody came out to see if there was any guests wanting breakfast. I was a Head housekeeper in hotels so I have a list of things where it could be improved.

Could be better
A little bit disappointed as pub and food is separate from accommodation. When i arrived the pub just gave me a number to ring, which is slightly off putting with your luggage in the middle of a bar after a long day of traveling.
