We hope you’ll enjoy the amazing views, frequent breeze, unforgettable sunsets and quick drive to downtown New Bern as much as we do. Nestled waterfront in quiet Bridgeton, across the water from New Bern, you can enjoy the river while taking in the view of the New Bern waterfront from the sun room, living room, open deck, screened in porch or yard. There is a free NC Wildlife boat ramp just minutes away for boat launching and Bridgeton has a nice waterfront park that is a short walk away with a kid’s play structure, picnic area and open recreation field. Guests are more than welcome to enjoy the dock! There are gray, plastic Adirondack chairs located next to the back deck steps that can be taken onto the dock. Please do not leave them unattended, as the wind has a tendency to blow things into the water. The boat lift pictured is not available for guest use and a boat (also not for guest use) will be present on the lift during most stays as will a sailboat in the wet slip. Please do not board the boats. There is currently no ladder into or out of the river. We currently do not allow pets on property or smoking (or vaping) in the home. In order to help safeguard the property (and keep on eye on weather conditions) we have two security cameras present- one at the front door (a doorbell camera), and one facing the waterfront. The cameras are strictly for security purposes and do not record continuously. Please note, our cleaner's rate structure varies by number of guests (linens) as do operating expenses (utilities). To be as fair as possible to couples and small families, our nightly charge and cleaning charge reflects six or fewer occupants but we welcome larger groups of up to ten. Everything worked. Everything’s labeled. Good stash of towels, cleaning products, etc. Lots of places to sit/hang out, so family members could seek out a quiet place to read or nap if needed. The laundry machines worked well and came in clutch! All the appliances were modern.We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thankfully the bedrooms are on the other side of the house from the next door neighbor who had bunches of people over, loudly talking outside until late at night, 2 nights in a row (that could happen anywhere so we sure don’t hold it against the host!). The only thing we would add would be a kayak or paddle board at the dock so we could experience the riverfront…but we understand that could be a liability issue.One of the bedrooms has a non-usable closet because of a strong mildew smell…the owner/host is clearly aware of it, as there is a large anti-damp packet in the closet. This wasn’t an issue for us because we didn’t bring hanging clothes LOL. If we had, there was ample room in the master walk-in closet for everyone. This is a recently-renovated older home, so it has charm and it has quirks. I also would have liked a “your stay is coming soon; here’s the details” kind of email like I have received from every other VRBO host a few days before the stay. I was a little anxious that we might have been forgotten because I didn’t receive that last contact from the host. ##### Elisabeth W. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck then on the evening our wine on the deck watching the river flow by. It was also a good base to go explore neighboring towns and islands.
