With a wonderful location on the edge of Siasconset, within walking distance of the beach, the historic district, and the unrivaled 'Sconset Bluff Walk, this two-bedroom home provides all the simple charms of a beach escape to Nantucket. The interior living space is casual and unfussy, with plenty of windows to let in the summer sunshine and natural wood walls, ceilings, and cabinetry that contribute to the home's rustic feel. You'll be able to take daily walks and bike rides to the beach and the nearby golf course, with an outdoor shower and a private washer/dryer waiting at home to refresh you and your clothes each afternoon. Spend summer evenings outside on the wrap-around deck where you can prepare your barbecue favorites on the grill. What's nearby: This home is located in Siasconset, a picturesque former fishing village affectionately known as 'Sconset on the eastern shores of Nantucket. 'Sconset Beach, famous for its significant surf, is less than half a mile east, as is the oceanfront 'Sconset Bluff Walk - the most scenic path on Nantucket that passes some of the island's grandest homes on its way to the Sankaty Head Lighthouse (a mile and a half north). Within a half-mile walk, you'll find the Siasconset Old Historic District, a market, a sandwich shop, and a playground, while the Siasconset Golf Course is less than a mile west. The island's main hub, Nantucket Town, is seven miles west, easily reached on the Milestone and Polpis Bike Paths. It is in a tiny village that has a great little market and is home of the famous “Claudette’s” sandwich/coffee shop. My Dad cleaned/trimmed bushes further because we wanted to put it to use. Recommendation: Bushes need to be trimmed back for better access. Burners on stove are tipped. We did not want to adjust those, but made a couple of breakfasts during our stay. Beds were very good. A/C and space heaters really helped. Ice chest was handy - don’t mind fixing a few things - ants were in kitchen by sink - found spray and used it. Bought two blankets for the beds and left them. The patio is lovely. I would recommend an umbrella for shade. The nearby beaches, General Store, Sankaty Lighthouse and playground were all absolute gems! Someone from the cleaning service came by to apologize which was nice, but still unsure as to what happened. There was no propane for the grill which we purchased. Yes, the cottage is 'rustic', but there was a flat screen TV and decent kitchen amenities, new decking. Some folks mentioned dust and I have allergies, but I didn't have any problem at all, it was clean and orderly. You cant beat the price of this cottage and complete privacy, so just go into w an open mind and enjoy all that Sconset has to offer. ##### michael r. Sure, it is rustic (as the title says), but we loved the vibe. The architecture, exposed wood, and white floors felt like a 60s surf bungalow. The house is interesting and there are some quirks, but nothing that had any impact on our stay. It was clean and well appointed where it mattered- the linens were clean and fresh, the kitchen and bathroom were clean, the mattresses on the twin beds seemed new. It was walking distance to the little town, beach, playground, Sconset bluff walk, and bus stops. Only one thing I would mention is that if you put the address into GPS, it will take you to a side of the house you cannot enter. Go around to the little street behind the house to find the driveway. We didn't realize that at first and had to figure it out. Otherwise, we had a great time and would definitely stay here again! ##### Laura C.
