"Such a special hotel in one of the most gorgeous cities we’ve ever visited. Staying in a hotel built right into the cave made our whole experience in Matera feel even more incredible. "The Room was excellent in terms of size and facilities and proximity to reception, the restaurant was also great. Just outside the front door of the room was the view over Matera’s Gorge and the caves across the valley. The Staff were excellent and arranged taxi at correct time for our onward connection. The Hotel was next to the Qasar restaurant which has excellent outdoor balcony with great views. Ideal for when the Hotel restaurant was closed. Breakfast was a real treat with a lot of local specialities as well as everything you would expect. Go early to get a great seat in the cave restaurant and enjoy the delights."

"Sextantio Le Grotte della Civita was one of the most memorable stays of our entire Italy trip. Staying in a beautifully restored historic cave in the heart of Matera was such a unique and magical experience. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and full of character, while still being very comfortable. The staff were absolutely wonderful—warm, friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. Breakfast was also fantastic, with fresh local food and excellent service. The location in the Sassi is incredible, and simply stepping outside the hotel feels like stepping back in time. More than just a hotel, Sextantio really feels like part of the Matera experience. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend it!"
