This cozy house is decorated with a cute Adirondack theme. There is a bedroom and bathroom downstairs. The upstairs loft is a large master suite with a queen bed and a futon. Downstairs is the open living room and kitchen with an electric fireplace. There is a charcoal park grill, propane grill, and small fire pit in the back yard. This is a great place for a fall foliage or Romantic get away. It is located near and has lake access to Thompsons Lake (great fishing https://fishmasters.com/top-30-fishing-lakes-new-york-state/) and close to many hiking or mountain biking trails in John Boyd Thachers Park (including the historic Indian Ladder Trail). Bring a fishing pole, kayak, SUP, or canoe and enjoy a paddle on the beautiful calm lake, or just sit by the lake and enjoy the nature and beauty. Many other hiking trails are nearby including Wolf Creek Falls Preserve, The Winn Perserve (both in Knox) , and The Huyck Preserve in Rensseelearville. For a bite to eat, Maple On The Lake is a great place to eat and enjoy Warners lake and is less than 10 minutes away. The babbling Brook, and My Way Tavern are within 15 minutes. In Altamont and Voohreesville there are many restaurants - only 10-20 minutes away. If you like brewerys there are many nearby: Heldeberge Mountain Brewery, Back Barn Brewery, Wayward Lane Brewery (voted in the top 20 breweries in NYS) , Green Wolf Brewery, Wolf Hollow Brewery, Frog Alley Brewery to name a few, all between 5 and 30 min. Only 15-20 minutes away you can visit the Altamont Orchards in Altamont (with restaurant, brewery, and golf course) or Indian Ladder Farms in Vohreesville, an orchard, store, and brewery. In August you can go to the Altamont or Cobleskill Fair. Located only 30 minutes from Albany, this location is ideal. In Albany you can visit the NYS Museum, The Capitol Building, or The Albany Institute of History and Art. You can take a cruise on the Hudson River aboard the Dutch Apple II. About the same distance to the west is the cute little town of Schoharie where you can find The Carrot Barn and The Apple Barrel, two favorite spots for lunch and shopping. If you want to venture out an hour, You can get to Sharon Springs (Beekman Store) Copperstown (Baseball Hall of Fame) Saratoga (SPAC, Track, Museums) and hiking in the Catskill Mountains. Two hours away you can find Lake George, Herkimer Diamond Mines, Woodstock, Stockbridge Ma (Norman Rockwell Museum) and The great Adirondack Mountains. Erika and Mike were by far the best hosts we have ever had. The cabin is perfectly situated, close enough to the lake and local stores for convenience but private and secluded enough to feel like your way out in the woods. The cabin is cozy and comfortable with a clean lived in feel, well stocked with kitchen essentials and random nick nacks you might have forgotten (the flashlight in the drawer was a life saver). The dock and fire pit were the prefect place to enjoy one of the best 4th of july fireworks shows we've ever seen, add in a bald eagle soaring overhead, a resident beaver, excellent fishing and a complimentary bottle of wine (Thank you Erika) and this vacation turned out to be the best we have ever had. So quiet, and the screened porch was perfect to work puzzles, read, or just sit. Only having one bathroom, it downstairs, meant that the older couple slept downstairs in the smaller bed. Our stay was amazing, the house was very cozy, clean and well kept. Erika, the host, was very accommodating and responded to all my concerns in an efficient manner.
