The space: The 150 sq metre apartment is on the first floor in a traditional, elegantly appointed building (circa 1880), with lift and 3 balconies at the front. renovated to modern high standards, it has all the comforts to make you feel cosy. It is also packed full of original features - stucco ceilings, original windows, shutters and old Portuguese tiles. The accommodation: There are 2 double bedrooms, both with double beds. The third bedroom has 1 single bed. We have a travel cot for babies. The apartment can sleep a maximum of 5 people (plus potentially 1 baby). There are 2 modern bathrooms, living room, dining room and fully equipped kitchen. Furnished in traditional style with antique furniture, Persian carpets, and Portuguese hydraulic mosaic tiles, but with modern touches. Bedrooms are fully equipped with hotel quality sheets. There is gas central heating throughout the property and the double bedrooms are air-conditioned. Fresh towels provided. Kitchen has gas cooker, electric oven, microwave, coffee machine, washing machine and dryer. Bathrooms have powerful showers, and the biggest one has a full sized bathtub and bidet. The living/dining room has comfy sofas, leather armchairs, and dining table. There is satellite TV (with international channels), DVD player and music centre to play your music. The house has a very fast broadband wifi of 1Gigabytes, that works all over. The place has a great feeling of space with 3.5 metre ceilings, but the décor is comfortable and cosy. The neighbourhood: Located in the central area of Santos, 5 minutes away from the French embassy, it is a trendy district surrounded by shops, great restaurants, and museums. Great for wandering around and exploring. The Museum of Art and Antiquities is 10 minutes walk further along our street. We are also a few minutes walk from Cais de Sodre which has many fun bars and clubs, and also the TimeOut market. It is also within easy walk of central Lisbon and the riverfront where you can take a 30 minute train to beaches or a shorter one to Belem attractions. The neighbours are well heeled Portuguese, many of whom have lived there for decades. Getting around: Tram number 25 runs at the bottom of our street. It is 20-minute walk to central Lisbon (Rossio). The nearest metro station is Cais do Sodre (10 minutes walk), and the nearest rail station is Santos with trains to the beach in Cascais. Taxi rank at the bottom of the street. Uber is very affordable in Lisbon. This would be the perfect place for groups of friends, couples or small families. Come and stay in our lovely traditional Lisbon apartment! Guest access: You rent the entire apartment. There is a paid underground car park about 3 minutes walk away, on largo Vitorino Damasio. Also a cheaper open air one across the train station (Santos). We also enjoyed the several markets within walking distance and the pharmacy just down the street. We felt very much at home for our weeklong stay. Location is great! It is a city apartment and as such has a lot of foot traffic going by but it is off the most well travelled streets so does get quieter at night. Smokers sitting outside the next door restaurants did keep us from fully taking advantage of the open air feel in the front living room; we kept those windows closed when smokers were sitting outside in the restaurant downstairs. The weather was unseasonably warm, so we used fans to move the air around; it got a little stuffy, so we appreciated the available fans. Our weeklong stay was much more enjoyable than a hotel would have been because of the appartment’s appointments such as the washer, dryer, towel dryer and the two bathrooms. The wifi worked so well and for my wired family was vital for planning and searching out the city and playing our online games. We had a great time enjoying Lisboa either on foot or with Uber and the apartment gave a wonderful place to regroup, revive, and get ready for the next day’s adventure…or just hang around enjoying each others company. I would highly recommend this apartment for adults who want a homey home base while experiencing Lisbon and the surrounding area, but don’t expect to find parking! Use Uber. ##### Mark F. The flat has a convenient location within walking distance to many restaurants, shopping districts and cafes. We had two couples and one single in our group and we had plenty of room in the well appointed apartment. It was a very good experience and the property manager was very kind to wait for us as we navigated Lisbon traffic! ##### Karin M. Stunning sitting area with demi balconies. Tiny bedrooms but you’re sleeping in there anyway. Two lovely clean bathrooms. Amusing long hallway to kitchen and bathrooms. Kitchen pots and pans need to be replaced. Hard to cook with the ones provided but if you don't cook no problem. Area very close to most everything, and uber very convenient from there. Everything we needed was there, including a washer/dryer. Our hostess went out of her way to accommodate us and gave us helpful dining suggestions. Zapata was all she said it would be. The Mexican restaurant right next door should not be missed, great food and super friendly. Upon our next visit we will have to explore what appeared to be a lively and interesting area. Perfect stay for a family of four. Three bedrooms and two full bathrooms, completely equipped kitchen including a washer and dryer which was very handy at the end of our stay. Close to so many lovely sites, museums, restaurants and more. The flat is well-appointed and the hosts are helpful and welcoming. Could not have asked for more! Comfortable beds and after moving a few things around for our personal comfort! Leather chair was very comfortable! Greeted with orange juice, bread and cheese! Thank you Iola ! One negative was lack of storage for us. 4 adults staying for 9 days no dressers in bedrooms, second bath no space to put toiletries. A couple of issues with maintenance but resolved.
