Gretna. There is off street parking for several cars including a carport in the rear of the cottage. It is within walking distance to the Playhouse, Jigger Shop, basketball and tennis courts, playground and Rails to Trails walking paths. Go for a swim and relax on the beach or grass area at beautiful Lake Conewago. There is a weekly publication of daily activities in Mt. Gretna , obtainable at walkable stops during your stay. The Eliza Mae Cottage has 4 air conditioned bedrooms and 2 whole house fans. The fully equipped kitchen has a microwave, dishwasher and a breakfast bar. There is a washer and dryer and a clothes line in the back. Along with the kitchen, there is a living room, dining room, sunroom and half bath which complete the first floor. Relax with family and friends on the amazing front porch which has comfortable outside seating with rocking chairs and a dining table. On the second floor the bedrooms have ample closet space and comfortable mattresses. A king size, queen size, double size and 3 twins make up the 4 bedrooms. Pets are prohibited and smoking is restricted to only the back porch and rear of the cottage. Linens and towels are provided as are all paper products. There is charcoal grill in the back as well as a lovely cottage garden with a bench. The home was clean, but since our stay was early Oct, I am not sure when the last renters were there and how long it had been closed up without being aired out. There was a musty smell and a few family members starting having sinus reactions before we left. The community was cute and the front porch was fun to hang out on. We are a group of friends that have been friends since our college days 1968-1972\. The cottage is really special and the gardens are beautiful! Marianne is a very responsive hostess and makes sure her guests are comfortable . There are fresh flowers in the cottage, a well stocked kitchen and a beautiful comfy big porch where we spend many hours. The host checked in with us not only leading up to our stay but, once she learned we had never been to PA, after we got there to tell us of some local places like The Jigger Shop to check out. (The sundaes at The Jigger Shop are fabulous!). The front porch was one of our favorite spots to hang out especially when it was raining. It’s huge with tons of comfortable seating. But true to the history of Mount Gretna, it was @ 8 degrees cooler there than in town. The porch fans and AC inside made it possible to still enjoy our stay. We had our traditional Ladies’ Night on the porch, as well as had several friends and relatives stop by during the week to enjoy the beauty and comfort of that spectacular front porch! Thanks Marianne for allowing us to enjoy your cottage. Easy 25 minute ride to the house, cottage was cute and exactly as described. Kids loved the ice cream place around the corner. Wish we stayed longer so we could have checked out the lake area nearby. Once again, Marianne was an excellent hostess. All questions were answered promptly. The cottage was extremely clean and the fall decor was charming. The kitchen is easy to cook in and well stocked. It is a quaint , well kept house with a lovely outdoors area that has fish pond in a beautiful setting of plants and flowers. The kitchen is very well stocked. The beds are very comfy and cozy.
