Best villa, quiet setting, great stay!Alan made us feel super welcome from start to finish and was great to work with. The villa itself is top end and exactly what we needed for a quiet getaway for play in the pool, BBQ dinners and board games. Strongly recommended. 10 out of 10.
We stayed at the house for a week with our complete family, including two boys and spouse. The layout of the house was perfect for such a stay, since it was possible two stay in 3 separate rooms. We all enjoyed the stay including the use of the pool.
Our stay at the cobblers was excellent. We had a few more questions than normal as we had an 18 month old travelling with is. Allan answered all of our questions quickly and helpfully. The welcome basket was much appreciated as we landed late at night. Maroni is a great spot which is quiet, but near to both Larnaca and limmassol
We were a family of 6 adults staying for 8 days at Cobblers. Everything was as described, plenty of room for us all to holiday without tripping over each other. Pool was great at the end of a day sightseeing and we loved the view from the terrace! Costas helped with great check in and out. We loved the quiet village and proximity to everything. You must visit Lenias tavern in nearby Psematismenos for great local food. Thank you for a great family holiday!
We had a wonderfully relaxing time at The Cobblers. The house is spacious and characterful, set around an attractive courtyard on different levels with a number of seating areas to relax, eat or lie by the pool - the rooftop terrace with its welcome breeze was a favourite spot! Maroni village is quiet and unspoilt, with easy access to a number of beaches, an interesting Neolithic site (if you like ruins), also a fascinating bee and embroidery museum and a family-run restaurant with delicious and authentic Greek fare, all to be found at/near the village of Lefkara. We loved our stay and would thoroughly recommend this charming house if you can manage different levels (probably not ideal for the very elderly or very young).
We really enjoyed our stay at Cobblers, a unique property where every room opens onto the lovely courtyard with an olive tree in the middle to shade under in the heat of the day. The pool is a nice size even if it looks a little small in the pictures it’s actually about 1.5m deep and big enough to swim short lengths.
The sun terrace was enjoyable as the shade and cool breeze made for a comfortable place to sit even in the middle of the day.
Maroni beach just about 5 minutes in the car has a few sunbeds and a small cafe but still small enough to not feel overwhelmed with tourists, I think most users were local. And keeping it local anyone staying at Cobblers should visit The Piazza local restaurant just a short walk away from the cottage where we had the best meal in Cyprus for value and quality. The mezze we shared was the most food I’ve ever seen presented to me with many tasty courses, and the night we ate there live music played on the stage.
All of us want to return as we enjoyed our time in Cyprus at Cobblers so much.
Our stay at the Cobblers was perfect. The space combines old world charm with modern conveniences. You enter the home through a low entryway at the bottom of a stone street. Immediately, you will see the lovely landscaped garden and pool area. Our family (2 adults, 10 year old & 5 year old girls) found it so serene to spend our days under the umbrella by the pool. The master bedroom and bedroom with two single beds are located in one part of the home, separated by a full bath. A separate entrance welcomes you into the third bedroom where you will find an en-suite full bath, and a laundry closet. All bedrooms were generous in size and have air con. The entire home has air con except for the bathrooms and kitchen. While I would prefer it everywhere (I am American after all), the area has cooler temperatures in the evening making cooking or showering tolerable. Upstairs from the main entryway and kitchen is a spacious sitting room. Directly above that is my favorite part of the house, a terrace overlooking Maroni village with views of the sea. I found it to be the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset. There is also a second sitting room between the entryway and the main bedrooms. Everywhere you turn, there are places to discover in this villa and everyone felt that they had privacy and plenty of personal space. We have been to Maroni many times as my husband’s grandparents are from the village, but this trip was extra special with the accommodations!
Not only is Maroni the perfect village near the sea but the Cobblers House was pure pleasure. From sitting under the ancient olive tree, a dip in the pool or on the viewing deck overlooking the sea and village! Best family vacation ever and will definitely go back and refer to others!
The house is absolutely amazing. The rooms and terraces create a really nice and peaceful atmosphere. The location is perfect for trips to Limassol, Nikosia or to Troodos.
We enjoyed staying here in this quirky, adorable village home.
A bit difficult to find but Costa’s soon came to our aid.
If you like to eat in there are plenty of pans etc.
Plenty of rooms to relax in.
We would go back… 🌷🌸🌷
From the magical moment of opening the arched door at 11pm this house won us! It has charm and ambience in abundance: the wonderful ancient olive tree and the many beautiful plants, the medieval-looking wooden balconies, and the quiet atmosphere. We found space in the house for everyone to find a quiet sunny nook, and for everyone to sit together for meals and enjoy the pool. Thank you Alan we'd love to come again.
Fantastic Villa - Great Holiday - Cannot Fault It!
We recently returned from a 2 week stay at the cobblers in lovely Maroni. What a fantastic property, we loved it! Our group was 4 adults and a 13 month old baby. The property has so much character and you really do feel like you are staying in a piece of history however it has all of the mod cons you would expect including air conditioning in all the main areas of the house.
The pool is fantastic and the garden and roof terrace is stunning. We spent many an evening BBQing and chilling with great wine watching the sun set.
Alan the owner is great, nothing was a problem, he was very informative and provided us with everything we needed to make our stay perfect.
We will certainly be booking again!
The villa is exactly as described and the photos show the facilities accurately. We were a family ranging in age from 4 to 75 and we all had a great time. We were self catering and were able to find everything we needed in the villa. The local market around the corner was handy for basics like eggs milk and bread, however a more substantial shop could be done at the supermarket about 20 mins away .
We ate out twice at the taverna in Maroni and in Tochni. Both venues were reasonably priced and served ample portions.
Our time at the villa was great fun. The pool was used extensively and those needing shade were always able to find some.
We were met by Costa, the venue manager who was easily contactable if we needed him which was seldom.
The way the villa surrounds the courtyard and pool provides a safe private environment in which to relax and enjoy oneself.
My family had a fabulous holiday and would highly recommend.
The Cobblers is certainly a unique holiday stay. It's very old and characterful, and all the rooms are accessed from either the external staircase or the multi-levelled courtyard. Although there are three bedrooms, it's best suited for a couple who want to chill out amongst all the peaceful quirkiness. We wouldn't recommend the house for the very tall (low doorframes), very young (many, many steps) or those with mobility issues. There's air-con throughout, although cooling breezes keep the heat at bay without wasting electricity. There are plenty of sun loungers for following the sun around the pool. The kitchen is adequately equipped and there's a pleasant dining area with windows onto the very quiet street. Our favourite part of the house was the top floor, with a TV lounge that's perfect for catching up with Netflix (bring your own Roku-type dongle) and a comfortable snug for reading. There's the usual overpriced, understocked minimarket in the village, so shopping for provisions is best done at the Alphamega hypermarket near the turn off from the A1 onto the B1. The allegedly excellent Old Coffee Shop, a street or two from The Cobblers, has closed, so village eateries are limited to Lenia's Taverna (actually in Psematismenos) and the Piazza Maroni. The latter is a huge space with plastic tables and chairs, large TVs and, horror of horrors, a children's bouncy castle, and the kitchen serves family-friendly food, with indiscriminate use of a deep-fat fryer. Lenia's is far better for couples, with warm service and authentic Cypriot dishes, but the emphasis is similarly meaty. The best local restaurant is Tochni Tavern, just a few km away, that embraces the breadth of Greek cuisine, with ample vegetarian and pescatarian options. There's also the friendly Nostos Taverna, opposite the church in Tochni, that's popular at weekends. The nearby marina of Zygi has a handful of seafood tavernas, but most were closed when we visited, and it generally seemed run down. We also ate in Kalavasos, a village close to Tochni, where the Retro Tavern and George's Tavern take over the village with their al fresco dining. The food at both is reasonable, but service is slow and vegetarian dishes are limited. Much of the time, we ate in and simply enjoyed soaking up the sun around the pool. Our criticisms are few: the directions to the house require updating, there were login issues with the TV box, and we thought basic housekeeping should be inclusive.
Sehr ruhig, kein Verkehr. In Summe: Ein kleines Paradies!
