While technically located in Kill Devil Hills, Canal Daze is nestled in the premier OBX sound-side gated community called Colington Harbour. Whether you're looking for a quiet relaxing vacation, or one filled with active adventures, Canal Daze will appeal to everyone in the family! 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 7 beds, Sleeps 13, 3200 sq ft Smart TV's are located in every bedroom, living room, and theater room. DVD players are located in the living room, theater room, and 4th bedroom. Main Level: King master bedroom with ensuite full bath and connecting master sunroom / home office with beautiful views, 2 queen bedrooms, full hallway bath, open concept kitchen, living room, and dining room (seating for 10 at the table, 2 at the island), reading nook, additional sunroom with counter height table (seating for 8) and love seat. Each bedroom closet is equipped with a box fan, hangers, laundry hamper, and folding luggage rack. Gated front porch: 3 rockers & side tables (great place to catch a beautiful sunrise!) Lower Level: 4th bedroom with full-over-full bunk bed and twin bed, large luxurious hot tub with handrail and cover lifter, theater room w/ seating for 5 and a queen sleeper sofa (nice 5" memory foam mattress), game room with pool table, ping-pong, foosball, and arcade style basketball, Tiki-Bar with mini fridge and wine fridge, lounge area, "outdoor" shower, half bath and laundry. New LVP flooring added throughout downstairs (not yet pictured)! Attached garage with amenities and extra storage space for beach items. Outdoors: private dock w/ swim ladder and room for a boat, Aqua Stairs dock ladder, private fenced in back yard, 4 new Adirondack chairs, 2 picnic tables, fire pit, charcoal BBQ grill, crab pots, fish cleaning station, plenty of yard space for corn hole or throwing the football. The back yard is a great place for admiring the sunset and star-gazing by the fire. Kitchen is fully stocked, plus: crock pot, griddle, blender, Nutri-bullet, coffee bar with Keurig, traditional coffee pot, electric kettle, and coffee bean grinder. Other indoor amenities: DVD collection, various board games, electric fireplace style heaters, 36" and 42" dog crates and 2 dog bowls, OBX YMCA access (pools, fitness center, racquetball, classes etc!) Other outdoor amenities: 2 kayaks, 2 stand up paddle boards (SUPs), various size life vests, 4 bicycles, fishing rods and tackle box, bucket, nets, beginners surf board, beach chairs, beach cart, beach umbrella, small/med cooler, tennis racquets, pickle ball gear, basketball, football, frisbee, beach volleyball, and corn hole. The street has very little traffic and is great for a nice stroll or bike ride. Community amenities, about 1 mile away: \*\*Outdoor salt water pool with diving board and swim lanes, kiddie pool, spacious sound beach, park, playground, dog park, tennis with pickle ball markings, and basketball courts. \*\*Community Pool Dates are Memorial Day - Labor Day. Please note community pool dates are subject to change (in most years, the season gets extended into mid-September!) Boater? Colington Harbour is only 10 miles from the Inter-coastal Waterway. There is a $10 / day launch pass fee to use the community boat ramp. UP TO 2 DOGS ARE ALLOWED PER STAY, but you must select pets at the time of booking. The pet fee will automatically be included in the fees listed (host fees). If this is not selected at the time of booking, there will be an additional $125 pet fee charged. Additional dogs may be considered, on a case by case basis. If approved, an extra fee will apply. Guests must clean up after their dogs in the yard and neighborhood. NO SMOKING. NO PARTIES. NO EVENTS. NO PARKING OR DRIVING ON GRASS. Parking is free, on-site, in the paved driveway only. It is single-file and may accommodate up to 4 average size vehicles. There is no overflow parking available. In order to provide a beautiful and safe property, maintenance is required. We have regular landscaping services, mid-week hot tub safety checks, and quarterly pest control services to ensure our guests have a pleasant experience. These services cannot all take place on turn-over days, but every effort will be made to minimize impact to our guests. EARLY CHECK-IN FEE. Early check-In may be possible if coordinated at least 2 weeks in advance. $100 fee applies. We have one Ring security style floodlight on our garage that faces the street and overlooks the driveway. That is the only camera on the property. Area attractions: Ocean front with public beach access and free parking (several options – 4 miles), Wright Brothers Memorial (4.5 miles), Colington Café (3 miles), North Carolina Aquarium (21 miles), Avalon Fishing Pier (6.5 miles), Churches – Son Rise Christian Church (5.5 miles) or Liberty Christian Fellowship (1.5 miles), Jockeys Ridge State Park (8 miles), OBX Escape Room, Various OBX light houses, Lots of shopping, and lots of restaurants off the main Hwy. Skate Park, Putt Putts, Go Karts, Horse Back riding, Hang gliding, Deep Sea or Inland water charter fishing trips, Dolphin tours, Jet Ski and Pontoon boat rentals. Guest is required to sign a renter agreement. Security deposit (hold) of $400 is required for each stay, which is released a few days after your departure. During the peak season, this is a 7-night, Saturday to Saturday weekly rental. There was office space for those who needed to work, an amazingly well equipped kitchen and indoor space for all. The owner quickly responded to any questions or concerns that we had. This waterfront property was the perfect house to accommodate our group of 9 and our golden retriever for the week. The house was clean and well-decorated. We enjoyed the many amenities that it offered... fishing off the dock, kayaks, paddle boards, game room, hot tub, bikes, bar area, and YMCA passes. The kitchen was well stocked and labeled, and the house conveniently offered sheets and towels. Every room, porch, and deck was well thought out, offering plenty of comfy dining and seating areas. The beach was a short drive, and we found it easy to access public parking. Aaron responded quickly to any questions and offered helpful solutions. We would absolutely stay here again! ##### Amy C. There was a brief issue with checking in but a short phone call and the property manager was able to get us in quickly. Even before we arrived he made sure we had everything we needed and answered all of our questions.What can I say about the actual house- the location is beautiful and the indoor hot tub was so relaxing! We loved all the helpful notes and the house had everything we could have wanted or needed. We are already thinking of when we can return! ##### Paul F. Property has plenty of space, a fun game room and was convenient to numerous area highlights. The dog friendly house had a fenced backyard (glad our dog isn't a swimmer 😂), the kids loved the bunk bed room and we loved the extra sun room off the master bedroom. Only recommendation is to have the cleaners do a deep clean throughout as many surfaces are pretty dusty. ##### Rachel R. There is literally nothing Canal Daze hosts haven’t thought of. My sister’s and my families have taken Beach trips to Cape Cod, Long Island, several Jersey Shore beaches, and finally ventured to OBX. We have stayed in beautiful places close to wonderful beaches and activities, but this house combined with its location is really second to none. The house itself is perfect- plenty of space for 2 fams w kids ranging from 8-20, 2 couples, and 2 dogs. Everyone- EVERYONE- was happy with their accommodations.But by far, the canal in the back is just too perfect. Every morning we sat w coffee, and every day we put the kayaks and paddle boards in the water to play around. The boys sat on the dock everyday fishing and crabbing. The beach is a quick drive w close parking. Jockey Ridge is a few minutes down the road and beautiful for sunsets and kite flying. And then the house itself with the game room was the perfect place to return every night- ping pong, bball, pool- puzzles, cards/ and LOVE the “tips” in every room left by the hosts to make everything easy. It’s an organizers dream!!itl if you’re coming to the Outer Banks, there is no question- this is where you should stay. This is a hike for us (from NJ) but we hope to be back. There were 13 of us in all, with kids ranging from 10-17\. Our stay exceeded expectation! The house is beautiful and is as pictured. It was clean and comfortable. There is so much to do in the house itself. Everyone enjoyed the game room, and the canal was so much fun to kayak, paddle board and catch crabs on. There was plenty of space to spread out so that everyone could enjoy what they wanted to do, whether it was nap, read a book, watch a movie or play games. The beds were very comfortable. There were two large tables for dining which worked out perfectly for a large group. As far as location, it was about a 10 minute drive to the ocean itself. There are plenty of public access parking lots. This was never an issue. We rented bikes and even rode them to the beach one morning. There are bike lanes everywhere. The sound beach and community pool are about a 1.5 mile away. We rode our bikes there several times, but it is a very quick car ride. The entire community was very friendly. The Wright Bros Memorial is just down the road, and there are so many stores and restaurants just a short car ride away. Communication with the owners was great, and they checked in to make sure all was well. We had no issues during our stay. I highly recommend this property! ##### Sarah D. Had total of 11 (two combined families including 5 kids) and everyone had ample room! Kids loved the game room, we enjoyed crabbing off the dock, and were within 12 mins to the beach! The house had everything we needed to make meals, paddle board and kayak in the canal, and watch movies when it stormed one day. Also close proximity to the Wright brothers national park and sand dunes state park… so much to do, the week flew by! House works well to host a family or extended family/friends. Beds were all comfortable. The game room in the basement was a great addition for whenever the weather did not cooperate. Bed sheets are cleaned in sealed plastic bags when you arrive - just be prepared to make your own beds that first day (no issue for us; but I could see being an issue if arriving late). My husband and I have rented homes many times throughout the years. This visit was quite special for us. It was our granddaughter's first birthday and all of our kids and their families were able to join us. This was the first time in over 10 years we have been able to have everyone in the same house! This house just made our trip. So much for everyone to do. Our 13- and 11-year-old grandsons told us that this was the best house and the best vacation that they've had! Thank you, Aaron and Jamie, for having this very special house available on VRBO! It was Super nice, and we had everything that we ever needed. With the game room, media room and hot tub there was plenty to enjoy inside the home. There are lots of cozy places to play games or read a book and so much fun to be had while making smores by the firepit. The house and property was very clean and kept up. The beds were comfortable. They were super responsive and very accommodating! We had everything we needed while staying at the Canal Daze, from linens (bedding, towels, beach towels), to kayaks, paddle boards, bicycles, crab traps and fishing rods; they had beach chairs, coolers, boogie boards, you name it. Having all these extras really helped us in our travels from PA.The home itself is amazing! It sits right on the canal and we thoroughly enjoyed the backyard and sitting by the fireplace, both in the morning with our cups of coffee and in the evening with a glass of wine. We used the charcoal grill in the back yard as well and enjoyed the sunsets by the dock. Inside the home was well maintained, and beautifully decorated. Some people don't really care about that when they travel, but I like staying in a place that feels new and fresh. The beds were comfortable and there's so much space if you need alone time. The kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly think of, from pots and pans galore (we were even able to steam some crabs in the oversized steaming pot they have) to tons of cooking utensils, and small appliances (crockpot, blender, Keurig, coffee pot, electric kettle).The ground level was also a sight to see with the game room, which we enjoyed playing pool in, and the theater room and tiki bar/hot tub room that overlooked the canal.
