Keith, with good local butchers, bakers and supermarket is only 4 miles with a village shop in Newmill for milk and a paper only 1 mile. The only thing that was confusing for us, It said there were NO towels, so we had to bring them and that filled a lot of our suitcase space. When we came at the hougse there were towels available. The holiday home was very well equipped with everything you could need, including comfy beds and furniture and a cozy fireplace. We were able to cook and do some laundry, which came in handy. The owners keep the place spotless and they were very easy to contact when needed. We appreciated the little extras like very clear instructions for all the appliances and equipment, detergent, cleaning supplies, batteries and even bandages. There is no wifi but there is signal for data and there are plenty of tv channels and games in the house. Gorgeous Scottish scenery out every window. A great private location with a fully stocked kitchen etc. If you are coming from abroad be prepared for a short narrow drive from the nearest town but we'll worth it.
