It is a ten-minute drive to the village of Aghia Efimia or the magnificent Myrtos Bay. Influenced by a need to be surrounded by natural elements, Kalliroi possesses immense charm, serving as a rural retreat inspired by the Greek landscape and countryside. Recently, this idyll was merely a hillside and Dionysia's conceptual vision. As owner and designer, she has created a tranquil environment with the assistance of like-minded individuals, surrounding it with natural elements, soft tones, subdued shades, and natural materials. There is an emphasis on ensuring everything appears intrinsic to the location, avoiding any sense of contrivance. The property exudes natural comfort and elegance, a style rooted in tradition and respect. It embodies not a set of rules or statements but rather a pervasive feeling. Characterised by local craftsmanship, lime wash is applied to all internal and external walls. The kitchen is bespoke, as is the bed; the shower room is unique, while the lounge offers perfect relaxation. Constructed similarly to a well-prepared meal, each element has been carefully selected, valued for its own sake, and thoughtfully integrated to create a pleasing overall experience. Kalliroi provides a peaceful sanctuary, a refuge for the discerning traveller who experiences instant joy and satisfaction upon arrival. Double wooden entrance doors lead to the open-plan kitchen/dining area. The kitchen features bespoke wooden worktops, units finished with Farrow & Ball paint, a ‘Belfast’ style sink, full-sized cooker with feature extractor hood, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, and ample drawer and cupboard space. The hand-finished dining table and chairs, along with aspect lighting, complete the look. The open-plan lounge, featuring comfortable seating and lighting, has two sets of double doors accessing the bedroom patio on the left and the lounge patio at the front. Both patios are marble tiled, with the lounge patio fully furnished and equipped with a distinctive polished concrete table comfortable for up to four and large parasol. The double bedroom includes a handmade King sized bed and feature wardrobe, with double doors leading to the patio, which features seating and a simple iron pergola. The shower room, adorned with pastel shades and hand-finished walls, encompasses a spacious shower area. The property is air-conditioned throughout. Beneath the patio areas, a basement with separate entrance door has been created for storage and additional utility. This thoughtfully designed space provides guests with essential amenities including a washing machine, dryer, and ironing facilities, ensuring a convenient and comfortable stay. Perfectly located to explore the whole island, the villa was a haven of peace when returning from our adventures. It is beautifully and stylishly decorated and has every amenity you could wish for. The attention to detail was amazing, from the welcome goodies, to the stunning flowers provided from Panayiota’s garden, to the cooler bags and beach bags provided. The pool area is beautiful, and it often took all our willpower to leave it and set off for our beach swims and hikes. The location is beautiful and peaceful. Dyonisia was the perfect host, accommodating, friendly and very responsive, and Panayiota was a delight, both on check-in and check-out, where she gave us a crash course in Greek phrases. So private and peaceful, we spent our evenings watching shooting stars, bats, owls, and listening to the goats and the donkey down in the valley.The villa was exquisite and the pool beautiful. We slept brilliantly and didn't want to leave. Dionysia was charming and helpful, assisted brilliantly by Panayiota who looked after us during our stay. Dionysia has created a fabulous home with an interior that we loved. It had everything we could want to make our stay comfortable. Panagiota the housekeeper was lovely, always greeting us with a smile as she started her morning. The villa is a short drive to the little port of Agia Effimia with lots of lovely tavernas and close to the beautiful Myrtos beach. Everything was perfect and far exceeded our expectations- the house is so tastefully presented and immaculately clean, as are the gardens and pool. Everything we needed was provided. We spent our stay in complete peace and quiet - the only problem being that we were reluctant to go out as we missed the house and pool so much! Our highlight was sitting watching the birds take their daily dip in the pool, sometimes even as we were swimming, which felt just magical. The furnishings were excellent and the reception was 1st class. We were met by the care taker and shown around the house. We were left an amazing gift basket with a few greek staples, wine, fresh eggs, and amazing fresh cut roses. Communication was very easy and thorough. If anything went wrong i would have felt 100% sure it would have been responded too and corrected immediately. We had such a lovely stay, communication from Dionysia was excellent, she arranged for someone to meet us in the neighbouring village to guide us to the Villa. The property is situated in a quiet location, it was so peaceful there, the photos don’t do it justice. Supermarket, bakery and 2 tavernas are about a mile away but we never walked it, the car was necessary. Panayiota (housekeeper) was so lovely, she welcomed us like family. I can’t express enough how lovely both Dionysia and Panayiota were, my wife was ill on arrival and both ladies offered help and checked in the following day to see if we needed assistance. We were met by Penny in the village and led to the villa, where we had the pleasure of meeting Dionysia in person as well. The villa is beautifully situated, and delightfully presented; everything was just so ... perfect! As everyone else mentions - the shower is wonderful. But so are the pool, the terrace and the gardens. Tranquil and relaxing. Penny came to change sheets, bedding and tidy up on three times - she is a delight too! No wonder she is referred to as Dionysia's Right Hand, and a fount of all knowledge. You definitely need a car, but that allowed us to enjoy the highlights of wine tastings near San Gerasimo, and near Lixouri, as well as getting to several of the beaches. The underground lake, and the caves were well worth a visit. Agia Effimia is a few minutes away, as is Myrtos Beach - both worth several visits. But it was always good to get back to "base" and enjoy the pool and the villa. Many thanks to Dionysia and Penny - it more than exceeded our hopes and expectations. ##### David H. We had the most wonderful time at Kalliroi! It was just perfect. The villa is beautifully designed both in terms of comfort and aesthetics. I could have cried when we first arrived at just how wonderful it all was. The pool was amazing with beautiful views and such a nice, warm temperature! I could have spent the whole time just swimming up and down with the sun on my face, surrounded by the beautiful scenery and listening to the gentle buzz of insects and the occasional bray of a near by donkey. The gardens were so pretty and lush. It was easy to see just how much work went into creating such a Utopia. The villa itself was so comfortable with great air-conditioning, a large comfy bed, a fab bathroom with a loo you could flush paper down (yay!), and so many beautiful touches which just heightened the experience further. We both felt so lucky to be there! The villa is well situated close to Agia Effimia which has lots of Tavernas. Dionysia, the host, was resposive, helpful and just lovely. You could tell she wanted her guests to have the most amazing time. Panagiota, who came in to clean twice during our 10 day stay, was so friendly and warm and welcoming and did an amazing job. She is a credit to Kalliroi. I literally can't praise this place enough. There was, however, one quite large problem - we didn't want to leave!!!!! Thank you so much! We hope we can return one day!
