Ok the common areas were cute and new and staff was friendly. My first private room had bed bugs and all night there was a strange noise driving me nuts...that is after the loud nightclub closed at 3am. By 6am the strange noise got cancelled out by street noise..a loud humming from aircons...by 8 am you hear everybody sitting and having breakfast in front of your room. Oh and there were Bedbugs ! I asked to change rooms and did get another one. As i waited for my new room to be cleaned, i noticed the staff member went inside with a big power steamer (uhh just look up what kills bed bugs...yes its hot steam..lol) Bathrooms were not so clean and breakfast only cheap toast and jelly.. Worst thing was that we missed out on some major sights cause staff informed us that there is no transport to there..we later happened to go to the bus terminal and found several buses going directly to the sight whicb only tool a few minutes ! Had we known earlier we could have seen more. I did not manage to check in to this hostel, so it's unfair to review it here. But I was sent an email by 'Expedia' to review it, so I want to review about my experience here. When I reached, I was told that my name wasn't in the reservation list, even with email proof of my booking confirmation. Worse still, the staff told me the hostel was fully booked - meaning they can't accommodate me anymore!! The consequence? I took 4++ hrs to arrive here, and took another 3++ hrs to return to where I was from!! When I reached, I was asked to wait before I was turned away because the staff was serving another customer. This was an uncomfortable experience for me - having travelled worldwide, I had never encountered this kind of treatment. And from the conversation they had, I guessed also there's a problem with that customer's booking as well, where he was not assigned the room he had reserved - I seriously doubted the high rating given to this hostel. On the reservation matter, who should be responsible? 'Expedia', who gave me wrong info on confirmation and room availability? Or the hostel, who claimed that the system was in a mess? Das ganze Hostel war sauber, es liegt zentral, die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich und hilfsbereit und sind um eine Lösungen bemüht wenn es notwendig ist. We got some tips of what to do around t he room and facilities were very clean and new. Perfect service, clean and very helpfull staff. All available: microwave, refrigerator, airco, breakfast, free coffee, tea and water (whole day), movie on a big screen every night, bikes for rent, books to read, great showers with hot water. Downstairs a great restaurant and in case you would like to have a beer...there is a bar at the end of the street. Try the local dishes in the area and do not forget the local Ipoh coffee. You can walk around in the old and new town. Must sees are the caves/temples around the area (must take a bus and/or taxi). Got nothing to do and you are just staying for 1 or 2 days? There is a shopping mall (walk 10 minutes) with a cinema, karaoké box and bowling. I would definately stay here again!! Thank you guys for the nice stay. ##### Kam-lin
