Spend a day shopping along the lively commercial hub of Bui Thi Xuan and get your hands on the latest electronic toys and gadgets to hit the shelves, take your pick of designer fashions or simply sit in a café and watch the busy streets outside. Notice that many of Ho Chi Minh City’s streets are named after legendary cultural figures. This road is no different. Bui Thi Xuan was a female warrior during the early 19th century whose list of achievements includes fighting a tiger and training an army of elephants for battle. These days the only battles are between rival shop owners, who compete for your attention with enticing window displays filled with flashing electronics and stylish clothes.

Join the mix of city workers, hip locals and international travellers for a cocktail or cold beer in the warm evening air. You’ll also find several restaurants open in the evening, serving everything from spicy local fare to recognizable international food.
