A couple of minor maintenance issues: blind slats in main room don’t rotate. Bathroom sink partly blocked. Main issue however was Deb and Steve seem over busy. I called and emailed prior to arrival to confirm booking, time etc. as this is a remote area. The phone was off, no response to email. As it turned out, others had mistakenly checked into my room, after speaking to Deb on the way in. She didn’t pick up that they were the wrong people arriving a day early. I know they get a parade of people through each week, but still, it would be good if they were more responsive and checked who was supposed to be arriving each day. All that said, Deb sorted out the issue promptly and no harm done. We spotted kangaroos next door on arrival. Far enough away from town to see all the stars in the night sky, but close enough for all your needs. Nothing fancy, but everything done well from the spotless kitchen, nice towels, comfortable beds and very welcoming hosts to the beautiful views from the veranda and the opportunity to starwatch at night. Although many people like to camp when going up to the Flinders, for those of us who prefer not to rough it, this cottage is the perfect base camp for spending the days out on hikes and coming home to a beautiful sunset and a comfortable bed. So, plan what you want to see and plan your day trips. And remember : stay off the Rd from Dusk onward because of Kangaroos. Also watch out for Emus & their chicks they are around often all throughout the day and wander across the Road.
