Nearby many Olympic National Park entrances like Sol Duc Hot Springs, the Hoh Rain Forest, Cape Flattery, Rialto Beach, Ruby Beach, the Tree of Life and many more. Our centrally located refuge makes an excellent “base camp” from which you can explore the Olympic Peninsula. Hiking, fishing, and exploring, or immersing yourself in the Twilight Saga, we are the perfect escape! The Space: \*\*\* NEWLY RENOVATED\*\*\* The Outback Too Cabin at Manitou Lodge is approximately 12′ x 12′ allowing for a queen bed. This unit has a hot-water sink as well as a mini-refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. Wifi is available in the main lodge. Outback occupants have access to an outdoor rainforest shower facility (short walk, next to tent site #3) and a port-a-potty (shared with one other cabin) that is a few steps away from the cabin. Towels are provided. Pets are allowed in this room ($50 for the first, $25 each additional), which can be paid in via the website or cash on arrival. AIRBNB and VRBO guests please communicate directly, in advance of your stay, to make arrangements for payment. Manitou Lodge is perfectly situated in Forks, Washington. Our accommodations provide guest rooms, cabins and camping on ten acres of coastal rainforest, just 3 miles from Rialto Beach, and 15 minutes west of Forks. Manitou is what a lodge should be – wood, stone, a Great Room with a massive stone fireplace, vaulted ceilings, and furniture you can put your feet up on. Nights in our forest are silent except for the distant rush of the Sol Duc river and occasional interruptions by coyotes and owls. Originally built in 1970, our Forks WA Lodging is a built around a classic lodge structure whose most striking feature is a huge vaulted-ceiling Great Room with a massive stone fireplace. The numerous couches and chairs in this room provide the space to be with others, and, at the same time, to be private. The Lodge also is home to our lovely Gift Shop which features Native American and Pacific Northwest art, decor, jewelry and more. Step Outside and Experience the Pacific Northwest Situated on ten acres of coastal rainforest, our Forks WA Lodging is just about as far west as you can get in the lower 48 states. The property’s hemlocks and spruce are still imposing, and there’s a Western Hemlock on the property well over 1000 years old. The grounds include wonderful trails, bits of whimsy and lovely spots to picnic. Summer is a delight with sunshine and temperatures that rarely rise above 80 F. With winter come the fish. Local rivers (Sol Duc, Bogachiel, Calawah, Hoh) offer world-class salmon and steelhead fishing. We also experience powerful winter storms which shape our coastline. It’s worth a dose of rain and wind in the face to witness one of these, especially when a couch, fire and warm bed are just a couple of minutes away. With the convenience of self check-in at our Forks Washington accommodations, you can take your time and arrive at your convenience. AFTER DARK ARRIVALS: It will be VERY DARK and there are no street lights. Please be quiet and courteous of other guests while getting to your site. Having a flashlight available will also be helpful. There is something for everybody any time of year in the Olympic National Park and Forks Washington. Explore wilderness beaches such as Rialto Beach, hike in the moss-draped beauty of the Hoh rainforest, fish the plentiful rivers of the region, or enjoy sightseeing. Forks is also the setting for the Twilight Saga, and hosts the Forever Twilight Festival every fall. We’re located just a 45 minute drive from the Hoh Rainforest and Sol Duc Hot Springs, and about an hour from Cape Flattery (most Northwestern point in the lower 48 states) and the Makah Reservation and Cultural Museum at Neah Bay. Rialto Beach, spectacularly rugged and log-strewn, is just 3 miles away. The Quileute Tribe resides 9 miles away at La Push, as well as First Beach at LaPush and Olympic National Park’s Second and Third Beaches (not to be confused with Beaches 1-3 south of Kalaloch). Rialto Beach, the only drive-to beach in the immediate area, is a spectacular, driftwood-strewn beach on the north side of the Quileute river about 3 miles from the Manitou Lodge. The surf is generally heavy, the driftwood logs huge, and the sunsets are magnificent. The Rialto crescent extends for about 1.5 miles and ends with two towering sea stacks, tidal pools, and “Hole-in-the-Wall”, a surf-carved tunnel in a headland. The 18 mile hike north from Rialto Beach to Cape Alava is a favorite with backpackers. First, Second and Third Beaches extend south from the mouth of the Quileute River. These beaches are long, flat crescents popular with photographers due to sea-stacks (a well-known sea-stack complex, the “Quileute Needles”, lies just offshore), tidal pools, and eagles. Access to Second and Third Beaches requires hikes of 0.5 to 1.5 miles, respectively. The headlands at First Beach and Second Beach can’t be passed, but one can backpack south from Third Beach along the coast for about 17 miles to Oil City. The Hoh Visitor Center is about 30 miles from us, and the Hoh Rainforest is possibly best known attraction in the Olympic National Park. Average annual rainfall in the Hoh Valley is in excess of 150 inches, and has a spectacular effect on the vegetation. Along the “Hall of Mosses” Trail, the moss-draped maples are extravagantly green year round, so much so that somebody has written that the air appears to be jade-colored. The Spruce Trail follows the glacier-carved Hoh river maple and red alder “bottom”. Scenic raft trips are available in summer along the Hoh River, and guides can be contracted throughout the year for fishing and scenic trips. Other regional activities near Forks Washington include world-class fishing, mountain-biking, hiking in the Olympic mountains and along the wild beaches that comprise the Pacific Coast portion of the Olympic National Park, or a visit to Cape Flattery, the most Northwestern point in the lower 48 states. A boardwalk recently completed by the Makah Nation, on whose lands the Cape sits, has considerably eased the hike. The views of the Straits of Juan de Fuca, Tatoosh Island, and Vancouver Island from the Cape cliffs are inspiring. While visiting the Cape, you won’t want to miss the outstanding Makah Cultural Center and Museum at Neah Bay. These are just a sampling of the possibilities on the West End. The only problem we had was the listing presented it as 1 Br 1 ba. In actuality the bathroom was a port a potty that was shared with an adjacent cabin. That wouldn't have been a big issue but the port a potty was NOT clean at alll. I'm not sure when it had been serviced last but the smell was so bad that you could literally smell it inside our cabin. So for 2 nights we laid in bed smelling the port a potty. We are not boujee people at all. We used port a potties all over the Olympic Peninsula. Even the ones that are used by hundreds of people a day were cleaner than this one. Even though the cabin was cute and perfect size and location for us, I would not consider it again based on that port a potty. It was really a miserable 2 nights having to constantly smell it inside our cabin! The second night we stayed gone as long as we could because we did not want to have to go back to the cabin and smell it. ##### Heather L. If you are thinking like I was, that the cabin would be a romantic little fun place to have a getaway with my wife and spend time together, GO ANYWHERE ELSE! Run away. Nothing was more of a mood killer than having a port-a-potty to use as a bathroom, to find it hadn't been cleaned out in months, so you see and smell a pile of feces, and spot black widows in the corners. Our sink was so small, it was laughable. You almost couldn't even use it without extreme discomfort and almost unusability. We tried to then go into the main lodge, and found bathrooms in there, but they are coded and locked. We asked for the code, and were told we don't have access to them. We tried to get internet as well to stay in touch with loved ones, and at least distract us from how bad things were here. No signal, and even though we had connected to the wifi, reception and the connection were both so bad, we couldn't even do that. We were forced to sit in the thick of the bad experience we just paid a premium for. Within 1 hour, we were already discussing just walking away from what we paid (which was far too much for what we got) and just heading down the road to another place that had basic necessities for far less. I would highly recommend going anywhere else. I felt cheated for what was sold to what I got. It was ridiculous, and downright fraud. The fact they use 3 different names (Outback Too Rustic/Manitau Lodge/Whiskey Creek Beach) to try and hide the resulting reviews. HOWEVER the outdoor shower was adequate in this warmer season. There was never a mention of portapotty shared between two cabins. If there access to toilet inside the lodge that would have been somewhat better. Biggest gripe is while there is no cell coverage there was also no wi-fi in the cabin. It would have been very little expense to the owners to extend coverage just a few feet to make coverage available. The property was run down. Check in was frustrating. We could not find our room, drove the entire property a couple times, ended up walking all over to find our room, 15 minutes of frustration. Finally found old and faded, hard to read room name above door. No staff available on site nor in "great room". Phone to contact hotel staff was out of order and no cell phone service. Evidently there was staff somewhere on site watching us search for our room as we were texted to pay for our dog that they saw with us, fine, but never attempted to help. On check out, rules said to dump garbage. Searched for a garbage can. Finally found one garbage can in the campground, that was overflowing with garbage. Our deck looked like it had t been swept or cleaned in months. The lodge was a welcome confort at the end of the day. They upgraded my stay due to the rustic cabin i rented originally not being ready for the season. The upgrade was amazing. Adorable cabin, the lodge is beautiful too. I love the location, super convenient to great activities but also just a CUTE place. I really appreciated the land-line phone on the porch since my network didn't have service so I could speak with the owner. The outdoor shower to my cabin was wonderful. The overhead heater was an unexpected feature that I was so grateful for. The shower was nice and HOT--and had great water pressure. Best shower all vacation! I really appreciated the fridge/microwave/coffee maker too, such a nice touch. The electric fireplace gave a really homey feel also. Two suggestions, it would be great to include a hairdryer for the cabin, and also a light in the port-a-potty. You could use one of those push button lights, or the kind with the switch, but its battery operated and adheres with 3M double sided tape. Cause I gotta say, the struggle is real trying hold a flashlight under your chin while holding your pant legs, so they don't get dirty lol. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. ##### Erika E. The bed was comfy, the hot water sink was nice, the cabin was clean, and the communal rain shower was surprisingly wonderful and only a short walk from the cabin. The port-a-John next the cabin was definitely in need of a septic pump but the one located next to the shower was very clean. All-in-all, a good experience. We would stay there again. ##### Joe M. The good: The location is just beautiful! The cabin is clean and welcoming. Did I mention the location? Nine minutes to Rialto Beach and just a few more to other great beaches. The bad: The sink is smaller than it looks in the photos and the port-a-potty was VERY used and the “shower” is shared with every other site. We never saw anyone; would have loved to know about the trails on the property and my husband really wanted a t-shirt or hoodie. That being said, I’d stay there again! ##### Elizabeth L. The cabin was small and cozy and the porta potty was clean. The outdoor shower was wonderful and the lodge was so cute! This whole area has a great vibe happening. The lodge was awesome and only a few steps away from our cabin. The shower was quaint and served its purpose (shower fast bc it has a limited sized heater tank on it). The grounds were kept up and scenery was beautiful. Property is nestled in a forested area. We brought our dog and she just loved exploring the property. The shared bathroom pod was interesting.
