Lovely accomodation surrounded by beautiful nature. Fantastic snorkelling, wildlife and nature walks. While food options (2 venues) were limited, the range of food offering was good!
I loved the slow pace of the island. No cars, noise. Paradise.

Comfy beds, room clean, staff friendly, but there was no exhaust fan in a place with over 90% humidity and where people are doing water activities all day. Nothing dried including the floors!

We loved our four days at the Fitzroy Island resort . It’s clean and semi modern enough to feel a little pampered but relaxed enough to walk around in bathers and wetsuits with snorkels on top of your head .
We went in July and the pool was too cold to use unfortunately, as it looked great . We snorkelled two or three hours a day and saw Turtles, reef fish , a Lion fish , Nemo , Stingrays . Reef sharks , even a bait ball !
Differently relaxing and easy . The walk up to the summit was a great achievement at least 1000 steep rock steps up, and I mean straight up from the resort , much longer and harder than expected. Rather good burn on the thighs .
Differently Fitzroy is a great place to stay , easy of the beach snorkeling , and the Foxy Cafe had reasonably priced food , I recommend the Calamari, very good !!

Fitzroy resort has been around for a long time and it is showing. The island is stunning and the staff are lovely, but there is wear and tear that has not been fixed for years. The pool has damaged tiles I've seen since before Covid, and a lot of the furniture is stained. Our island suite had a great view, but the sofa bed was stained and smelly when we pulled it out to stretch and relax to watch TV. I have previously had great food at Zephyr, but the lunch on Friday had pork so tough it was inedible, and prawns ruined by overcooking. I became suddenly ill that evening as well, which felt like food poisoning, but not confirmed. Breakfast was OK. All in all the whole experience is about the gorgeous views, but for what the resort charges I think customers deserve better.

Island was great . Staff were excellent . Our beachfront cabin had a problem with a shower door that was so badly hung that it was a squeeze to get into and out of. We reported the issue but nothing could be done for our stay ….the solution being to dismantle and renovate the shower . Staff said they would remove the cabin from letting until the shower was fixed .
Stayed for 4 nights in late May. Weather was great, warm, sunny. Views and hikes lovely. Walk 50 ft from our room to amazing snorkelling. On average saw 10-12 sea turtles per swim, plus rays reef sharks and loads of fish. Had economy suite which was fully equipped. Staff were great, food was affordable and nice. Short hike to nudey beach to break up the day. Highly recommend do your first snorkel at 8:30 before tour boat arrives from Cairn. Honestly snorkelling was never crowded. Highly recommend and would come back.

Nice rooms with air con, breakfast good at the restaurant, meals at the pub are good but it closes at 8pm. Quiet, relaxed stay, snorkelling was good, just off the beach, swimming with two turtles and many fish.
The room was lovely, staff were very helpful. The location is stunning! I liked that the hotel blended in with the surroundings: dark wood and sandy coloured marble/ stone.

- Lovely helpful staff.
- The view from the front rooms are lovely and really is a hop skip and jump into the water!
- The pool is nice.
However
- There is really annoying music where every you go - if that is not for you - bring your noice cancelling headphones!
- The rooms need a "deep clean" surfaces are probably wiped nothing is scrubbed clean or has not been in a long time. I travelled with someone who booked a room with no view and its smelled really bad. Staff obliged and let her swap rooms and the second room was no better.
-For people where mobility is an issue, you need to know that the beach is mostly coral and less soft sand - its hard to walk on in places - the walks to Nudey beach and the Secret Garden are steep and you will need to navigate rocks to progress - Just an observation - This is not a ideal location for the several people I saw in wheel chairs and walking sticks.
The property is very dated and could do with some repairs. We were supposed to have a dryer but it had been pulled off the wall at same stage, one of the drawers in the kitchen was missing a handle, the furniture was very dated, only one bedside table in the bedroom and it had terrible stains and damage and the bathroom really needed a proper deep clean - hust because it has stone tiles doesnt mean they dont need scrubbing. Such a shame as the rooms themselves (if you spring close to $500 for a bay view room as we did) were very large and with a beautiful view of the bay. On a side note, it says you cannot bring alcohol onto the island and can purchase from the bottle shop, there isn't a bottle shop, you can purchase from the bar but you pay the same prices as though you'd dined in. As long as you're discreet, there wouldn't be any issue with bringing a couple of six packs or bottles of wine. We also wish we'd brought some of our own food as we did have an oven, hot plates and full sized fridge.
We had an amazing time at the Fitzroy Island Resort! At every point - from the reception desk, to the wait staff, to the activities personnel, the staff was kind and helpful. The location itself could not be more beautiful. I'd highly recommend staying here.
The hotel is in a fantastic location and has a lot of potential, but it needs significant investment and attention before we would return.
The rooms are a good size, but the facilities are very limited, with many empty or underused spaces and it felt soulless because of that. The pool table my children hoped to use was broken, and there was little else for them to do after it got dark.
Food was also a major issue. The main restaurant was expensive and disappointing, while the casual option was mostly pub food, which we did not want to eat every day for a week. Although the rooms had kitchens, this was not clearly advertised for communicated, and the general store stocked little beyond ice creams, chips and sweets. We ended up taking the boat to Cairns to buy groceries, which was inconvenient and could have been avoided with better information beforehand.
The staff were friendly, but there seemed to be very few of them, and the hotel appeared to rely heavily on temporary backpacker staff. As a result, it did not feel like a professionally managed hospitality operation. It could be a wonderful place, but at the moment it falls well short of its potential.
Really enjoyed the over night stay in the island. The cleanness and spacious of the room is far exceed our expectations. The easy access to the beach is just exceptional. Wish we could stay one more night.
