The room we had was lovely and more spacious than we'd expected which was welcome. There was a smell coming from the bathroom which we reported to Reception and were offered either another room or for someone to come and have a look at it. We opted for someone looking at the room and they did an amazing job. Breakfast staff were lovely as were the Reception staff. The parking was a bit hit and miss but if we arrived back at the hotel later than the parking restrictions there was usually a space outside and you could fix the time disc to start from 8am and could park till 10 am which meant you could see if a space was available then.

Fantastic stay, room atrium room - felt like in the middle of a forest with a waterfall - very relaxing - staff could not do enough, real good breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back xxx

The property is unique to its era and old fashioned which in my opinion suits the IOM and i find charming.The rooms are comfortable but no daily servicing of the room, meaning I had to ask for toilet rolls and clean towels during my 4 day stay. It's location is excellent for transport for visiting the beautiful island. The staff are very pleasant , friendly and helpful.Breakfast had plenty of choice and was very good.I thought an ordinary restaurant rather than a loud pub and Asian food restaurant which are attached to the Sefton would have been much better for the age of its guests. Neither restaurant suited me and I had to eat elsewhere .As I didnt have my own car on the Island I couldn't travel to find a nice quiet eating place.I didnt use the bar.

Stayed here for 2 nights in June 26. Hotel is in need of renovation and I can imagine in the past this was a very nice place. The downstairs areas are decent, the bar and reception nice. However we feel a little robbed with the family room we booked at a cost of £265 (after discounts I found online). No view, extremely old furniture, carpets and decor and the bathroom ancient. The good things were the shower was very decent (good pressure), the beds whilst old at least comfortable and the pillows nice. Location is excellent but I do feel this place is pricey and living on past glory. Wouldn't stay here again sadly.

The Sefton has seen better days. It is quite run down in places. The basement pool & fitness level smells like a sewer. There are places where the wood molding has rotted through. Many of the plants in the Atrium are half dead. Probably the most important point to make about the Sefton is that there is no air conditioning. Complicating this fact is that your room balcony overlooks the enclosed Atrium, so you can't leave your French doors open to try to cool your room, if there are any guests out on their balcony talking at night. The sound reverberates through the Atrium and keeps you awake. The shining spot at the Sefton is the staff. They are so helpful and positive that it almost makes up for all the negatives. Oh, and the breakfast buffet is excellent! We were very happy that we chose a room rate that included the breakfast. There weren't many convenient options for breakfast nearby, so this was a good call.
