Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Devetaki?
The best area to stay in Devetaki is within the village itself, or in the immediate surroundings, for direct access to the region's natural beauty and attractions.

Devetaki is a small, traditional Bulgarian village known for its proximity to the Devetashka Cave and Krushuna Waterfalls. Staying directly in or very near the village puts you right at the heart of this stunning natural landscape. You'll find a few guesthouses and family-run accommodations, often offering a quiet, rural setting. The village itself is compact, with local shops and eateries.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape will find the Devetaki area ideal. The focus here is on relaxation and enjoying nature. You're perfectly positioned for leisurely walks to the Devetashka Cave, a truly impressive natural landmark, and the picturesque Krushuna Waterfalls, where you can explore the cascading pools and trails. The quiet evenings and fresh air make it a lovely retreat.

For families, staying in Devetaki offers a wonderful opportunity to experience rural Bulgaria and engage with nature. The outdoor activities like exploring the cave and waterfalls are superb for all ages, providing adventure and fresh air.
When is the best time to go to Devetaki?
The best time to visit Devetaki is during the late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities.

During late spring, the countryside is lush and green, and the temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 18°C to 25°C. This period is ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region, such as the Devetashka Cave and Krushuna Waterfalls, without the intense heat of mid-summer. It's also a great time for photography, with wildflowers blooming across the landscape.

Early autumn offers similar mild temperatures, usually between 15°C and 22°C, and the landscape is often adorned with beautiful autumnal colours. This season is superb for hiking and enjoying the local produce, including grapes and other fruits, as it coincides with harvest time in many areas. The slightly cooler evenings make for a comfortable stay after a day of exploration.

Both of these periods avoid the peak summer crowds and the higher temperatures of July and August, which can sometimes reach over 30°C, making outdoor activities less comfortable.
