Staying here puts you right in the middle of the city's unique character. Batha Square is a good reference point, as it's a larger, more open area near the main entrance to the Medina and often where taxis can drop you off. Bab Bou Jeloud is another prominent entrance, easily recognisable by its intricate blue and green tilework, leading directly into the bustling main thoroughfares. For couples looking for an authentic and intimate experience, staying in a traditional riad within the Medina is ideal. Many riads are tucked away in quiet alleys, offering beautifully restored courtyards, rooftop terraces, and personalised service. You'll be within walking distance of attractions like the Chouara Tannery and the Al-Attarine Madrasa, allowing for leisurely explorations.Travellers who appreciate easy access to transport and a slightly less enclosed feel might prefer hotels just outside the Medina walls, particularly near Batha Square. This area offers a good balance, providing views of the historic city while being more accessible by car.

The best time to go to Dar El Hamra is during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) months.During these periods, the weather is pleasantly warm, with average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 28°C. This makes it ideal for exploring the city's labyrinthine medina and enjoying outdoor activities without the intense heat of summer or the cooler, wetter conditions of winter. You'll find it comfortable for walking through the souks and visiting historical sites like the Chouara Tannery. For travellers who prefer a quieter experience and cooler temperatures, late autumn (November) can also be a good option, though there's a higher chance of rain.
