About this property

2 Bed in Llangynidr (oc-b42697)

  • This pretty cottage is located in the heart of Llangynidr, a traditional Welsh village surrounded by the natural beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Perfect for couples, friends or small families (and a dog), it makes a welcoming base for exploring one of South Wales’ most scenic regions. The village itself is steeped in canal heritage, with five locks along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal and both the canal and River Usk flowing through the landscape. You can take gentle towpath walks or follow cycling routes – or plan more adventurous hikes with a picnic in your backpack. If you’re seeking a real challenge, you could try tackling Pen y Fan (17 miles) – the highest peak in South Wales – for breathtaking views and rewarding climbs. The market towns of Crickhowell (5 miles) and Brecon (10 miles) are close by and both feature many independent shops and eateries to explore. You’ll also have easy access across Mynydd Llangynidr towards the Welsh Valleys.

Enter this traditional home into a cosy lounge rich in original features, including ceiling beams and an exposed stone fireplace. A wood burner creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, while a well-stocked bookcase is filled with local guides, books and games for relaxed evenings in. To the rear is a generously sized kitchen/diner where you can cook up feasts and sit down to meals, with direct garden access out to the garden. A small lobby leads to a ground-floor shower room. Upstairs, two comfortable bedrooms – one double and one twin – both enjoy views to the front.

Outside, the enclosed cottage-style garden is a real highlight, bordered by a gently flowing brook that adds to the peaceful setting. Take meals outside on the raised decking area, equipped with a table and chairs offering a lovely vantage point across the surrounding mountains. Double gates open onto the quiet country lane, and roadside parking is available directly outside. There’s also space to store bikes within the summer house.
