Saltwater Pool, Hot Tub, Great Neighborhood, C0949 Enjoy scenic views from this home’s unique “tower” sitting room, roof top deck or many other decks. With plenty of space for your group to spread out, a short walk to the beach, and your own pool and hot tub, Franklin’s Tower is the perfect center of gravity for your OBX getaway. Just a short way off NC12 in the southern part of Corolla, Franklin’s Tower is easy to reach. With an expansive corner lot, there is lots of space on the exterior of the property. The large driveway and two carports provide more than ample parking for your group’s vehicles. A basketball goal is ready for a friendly game of pickup or for someone to hone their free throw skills. The open floor plan of the upper level is welcome and inviting with natural light flooding in from the many windows. It is anchored by a great room area, with plenty of seating in front of the fireplace and large screen HDTV and other entertainment components. A separate four-seat table in this area is perfect for whatever card or board games you enjoy playing. From here, step up into the focal point of this space, the octagonal “tower” sitting room. As if being in your own world, ease into the comfortable chairs to scan the neighborhood, read a book, or partake in that indulgent afternoon nap. A perfect place to relax at any time of day, this space makes Franklin’s Tower truly unique. Step outside and you will see uniqueness goes beyond the tower. The arc-shaped pool is the center of attention of the fenced-in back yard. There are plenty of lounge chairs to let you bask in the sun, and a hot tub awaits you for that long relaxing soak. Outside in the yard, a park-style barbecue grill is ready for your grill masters and horseshoes await you for some healthy competition amongst your group. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Also surprised there were no puzzles or games available since in all the years we’ve been vacationing at OBX- there’s been a plethora of puzzles and games to enjoy at the houses we’ve stayed in. There were a couple of lightbulbs that were out and the cleaning was just okay. (Cobwebs in corners, dust in surfaces & lamps, sticky shelves in pantry) our feet also turned black after walking around bare feet in 20 minutes. Plenty of space for the whole family, perfect beach access, and awesome outdoor decks/amenities. Beautiful saltwater pool, and the separate under counter ice machine was clutch!! It’s near several seafood/meat markets and the kitchen was stocked for us to easily cook every meal for a week, except one afternoon when we ran down to Kitty Hawk. The owner was very responsive and gracious enough to let us in the house about an hour early, since travel was unpredictable and the house was ready.
