About this property

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
Pet-friendly, located on Lake Monroe.
Our spacious and beautifully designed property features three sprawling decks that offer picturesque views of the shoreline, allowing you to take in the stillness of the woods and the soothing sound of water against the rocks. Bring your furry friend along and enjoy the peace and tranquility of our four acres of land, which provide ample privacy. The Lake House is perfect for unwinding and enjoying quality time with your loved ones.
As you wake up every morning to the majestic lake views, enjoy your morning coffee on the master deck. Or, spend your evenings with your family enjoying the beautiful sunset from the covered deck—no matter the weather!
If you need more space, the Soaring Eagle Cabin is just next door.
Please note that climbing stairs is required to access the second-level bedroom.
Please note: This home is remote — located 30 minutes from town and accessed via a 20-minute drive from the highway on winding gravel roads. While the drive is scenic, it may not be ideal for those seeking quick town access or smooth pavement. For many of our guests, however, this journey is part of the charm — a chance to truly get away from it all.
Rural Environment Notice Our cabins are located in the beautiful woods and countryside of Brown County, Indiana. While we provide routine professional pest control and keep our homes clean and well-maintained, guests may occasionally see seasonal pests such as mice, flies, lady beetles (Asian beetles), or stink bugs — especially in the fall and spring.
These harmless insects are part of life in a rural setting. We do everything possible to minimize their presence and appreciate your understanding as part of the authentic Brown County experience!
PET-FRIENDLY PROPERTY: There is a $75 fee per pet. Moondance Vacation Homes proudly donates a portion to the Brown County Humane Society when you bring your pet and pay your pet fee. ALL EVENTS, DAY GUESTS, AND PARTIES ARE PROHIBITED WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL FROM PROPERTY MANAGEMENT. Effective July 1, 2025, the county has raised the innkeepers tax from 5% to 8%.

This home was perfect for our short getaway. We walked the trail to the lake a few times a day to watch wildlife, enjoyed the hot tub and loved seeing so many stars at night!
Birthday week, no kids, didn't watch tv at all! Shopping, hot tubbing, cards, board games, actual conversations! 6am hot tub waiting for sunrise with an uninterrupted cup of coffee...bliss!!!
Hidden gem! Peaceful and relaxing. Enjoyed the hot tub although felt could maybe used more chemicals.. ??
The cabin was cozy and comfortable. The kitchen could use a skillet. I'm glad we brought one as I read in another review one wasn't provided.
The shower is TINY. I'm 5'6 and the shower head came up to my chest. Served it's purpose but I wasn't shaving my legs or washing my hair without difficulty.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would book again.
We loved our stay! The cabin was very private and exactly as described. There are so many places to lounge to take in the views or read. We had the most relaxing stay. The hot tub under the stars at night was magical. The wifi and tv meant cozy movie nights. Will definitely return!!
Wonderful location. The loft cabin lake house was well supplied including pots and pans and I ended up overpacking after reading previous reviews. Charcoal grill was small but considering it’s not meant for a huge crowd anyways I was able to make a nice meal for family of 4. The hot tub was clean and worked well. The location was 15 minutes down a winding gravel road I was not aware of that. Very peaceful beautiful place to relax and not too far from small town shops.
Property was very pretty and well taken care of. This was exactly the getaway my girlfriend and I were looking for. It was very peaceful and provided us with one of the best weekends we have had in a long time. I would recommend this place to anyone and I would absolutely stay here again!
Great location, beautiful view of Lake Monroe, and nice quiet area. I highly recommend this place because of how serene it was and they had provided everything we needed. The beds were comfy, the hot tub was nice and there was a fire pit if we wanted to have a fire. The only downside is that there is no phone coverage at the houses location for T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T so save the door code and wifi passcode before you start your trip there.

An older property but pretty well kept. Plenty of kitchen supplies and towels. Beds were comfortable. Felt like we were the first ones there for the season. All decks needed swept off, had to tear through vines to find the trail down to the lake. Lake Monroe was too high, up into the trees to try and fish but we took a few nice walks, played several games and made a few trips into town. Additional notes were left on the checkout list.
Loved everything about the property. One thing to note is we were told the home had a gas grill but it was in fact charcoal. It’s a 20 minute drive on an unpaved road to get to the property so having to turn around to leave to get charcoal was not ideal.
Enjoyed the awesome views every direction. Cabin nicely furnished.
Spectacular stars from the hot tub at night. The quiet was amazing.
Place is dusty , Smeared food stains on welcome book and black chairs.
We had to clean that. Moldy curtain in the funky shower.
Beware of steep step at front door.
This cabin was what we were looking for. We wanted a secluded house by the lake. The house was small but had everything we needed. The king size bed was very comfortable. If you are tall, there might be issues with the low ceilings and small shower, but we didn't have that issue because we are short. We really enjoyed the canoe and trail to the lake. It was only a short little walk with a well preserved trail to enjoy the canoes at the property. This house is on a gravel road and is about 5 miles ling so no need to wash your car before visiting here.
No skillets.no foil.mice and flies.poor water quality so we used up our bottled water.sloped ceilings upstairs to bonk your head.very tiny bathrooms/shower.you could see lake monroe if you squinted real hard looking thru at least a half mile of woods.very overcharged for what we got.never again!!
We had a very nice stay! This is a great house. There are a few quirks about this house, but overall we really enjoyed it.
Favorite things: canoe, reclining chairs in the den, fire pit, good air conditioning units, beautiful drive to the house.
Didn’t like: shower is VERY small, upstairs bedroom can’t stand up in half of it, upstairs bed was not comfortable, needed to clean outdoor table and chairs-looked very neglected.
Drive to the house from the main road is about 20 min. It’s a beautiful drive! However it takes a little planning ahead. We would plan to go out once instead of coming in and out. It didn’t bother us, but it’s worth noting.

Short stay
Upon arriving we called to see if we could get in early. Was told the house cleaning hadn’t contacted them yet. We waited and decided we would go see where we were going. Got there around 3:15 and no one was there. Called again and was told we could look around. No one ever called and at 4 we went in. Outside had bird poop going down the wall had to clean the patio with hot tub and patio on 2nd floor. I sent an email and was told Din would be by next day. Didn’t happen I’m guessing because of the rain. Couldn’t get regular channels on tv only partially Disney plus. No direct tv!! Hot tub had leaves in the bottom which we cleaned out. For the price I really expected a little more. We have rented several VBRO however this one was a disappointment

Not kept up
We stayed here back in 2011. We came back because we enjoyed the cabin and especially taking the canoe out on the lake. Unfortunately, the place has not been kept up. The chairs around the fire pit are not only uncomfortable but unsafe. The metal chairs had bent legs, with the seats rusting and falling out. Hard metal uncomfortable seats on the back patio. Mattress upstairs with major sink hole (V shape) and very uncomfortable. It use to be tidy and well kept. The pictures on line do not accurately represent how it actually looks. It needs a little investment put into it; pressure wash and re-stain deck, a fresh paint job throughout the cabin, updated comfortable furniture, both inside and out, and decrease the clutter. On a positive note, we enjoyed taking the boat out, the fact that it has a fire pit, the a/c and fan upstairs, and there were plenty of towels and dishes.
