Little House is perfect for this because it’s closer to The Needles than Moab, and Monticello has a grocery store and several gas stations. Communication with the host was timely and helpful, especially because I needed a package delivered to the address. The property is safe and snug, very quiet, tucked behind the “Main House,” and separated by a tall fence. Little House has a 2-burner hot plate, a small sink, a small refrigerator and freezer, and a microwave. Two in-wall electric heaters (one in the bedroom, one in the living room) kept me warm during December/January. Wi-fi is smoking fast, so it’s great for catching up on work. Nearby, Loyd’s Lake provides a 2 mile gravel hiking path around the lake, with nice views and vault bathrooms. National forest land is just up the road (literally up…8,000 feet) from Monticello. This was a great place to stay as a home base from which to explore the beautiful area." It is surrounded by native vegetation and wildlife. While you are having breakfast, you can often see a family of deer grazing just outside the dining room. On our drive to town, we also came across a family of wild turkeys. There is a profound sense of calm and solitude. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and well maintained. There is a large deck just outside the room we stayed in, and at night we could see the stars. The hosts, Rebecca and Mike are very welcoming and made us feel at home. The guests were also very friendly. It was Thanksgiving holiday, and Rebeca gave us her signature sangria, which was the best I have ever tried, and I know how to make a good sangria. It is a great place to get away from the city, relax, and visit the nearby national parks. I highly recommend it."
