#### Gaze up at the chutes of three glorious waterfalls in the forest, relax by the small lagoons and see an ocean blowhole.

Faarumai Waterfalls are among the most magnificent natural sites on the island of Tahiti. The three impressive chutes of water plunge into pools, surrounded by tropical vegetation and dramatic cliffs. Enjoy the hike past exotic plants to reach this watery wonderland near the village of Tiarei. 

Trek with your family through the dense thicket of chestnut trees and tropical vegetation. Cross the various rickety bridges and footpaths over streams to reach the waterfalls. Make sure to bring mosquito repellent to keep the bugs away. You will arrive first at Vaimahutu falls, which is so tall that it is difficult to capture in a single photo.

Continue walking along the forest trails for another 20 minutes to reach the other two falls, known as Haamarere Iti and the Haamarere Rahi. Snap photos of the two spectacular feats of nature, which stand side by side. You may see visitors in the water, feeling the vibrations of the falls. Be aware, however, that swimming in the waterfall basins was outlawed after a rock fell on a swimmer’s head.

Walk to the nearby Arahoho Blowhole, where waves from the ocean crash through a gap in the rocks, creating a spectacular burst. Relax on the black sand beach near the blowhole.

Note that the waterfalls have a continuous water source year-round, with denser flows in the wet season that runs from November to April. The waterfalls are open at all times to the public for free.

Faarumai Waterfalls are located near the village of Tiarei between Mahaena and Papenoo on the northern coast of Tahiti. Drive east for about 45 minutes from the capital city of Papeete to get here. See fascinating sights on the way, such as the Point Venus Lighthouse and the Black Sand Beach in Māhina. Leave your car in the designated parking lot for Faarumai Waterfalls.

The resort was stunning. Fabulous location and views. Our room was clean, and suitable for staying a few nights. Limited drawers, hangers. Food was EXPENSIVE and we do not feel it was good value for the money. Service was inconsistent... depending on the wait staff. Overall the staff was very friendly spoke English and very accomodating. Would rate this higher if the food was priced better, meaning I think $75.00 CA per person Monday to Saturday and $105\. pp on Sunday buffet. If you want to eat alacarte you need to order room service or grab something premade at a counter. Room service 3 egg omlette with toast + pancakes with a fruit sald + 2 coffee was $85\. CA. Yes, hot, and came very quickly, but add 17 for delivery and tip and it adds up pretty quick.

This is a beautiful property right on the beach. We loved our garden bungalow suite. It was clean, comfortable, and had a kitchenette so that we could cook. The breakfasts were served right at our terrace. The breakfasts do cost extra. They include croissants, bread, local jams, fresh fruit, yogurt, and bacon. It's a small, quiet resort that makes you feel like you've escaped the business of life. They have kayaks and snorkel gear you can use for free. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We would definitely stay here again.
