If you have a choice, don't go.

When I booked the room, I was told that if I arrived later than 18:00 I had to pick up the keys at another establishment. I was about to cancel, but they wouldn't return the money, so I decided it was better to go by taxi to the first establishment to pick up the keys and the matter was resolved. I arrived at Buenos Aires airport at two o'clock in the morning, the taxi took me to the establishment to pick up the keys to the room. They don't give me any indication, only a key. When I arrive at the Hotel Babel, the key doesn't work. After several minutes trying to get in, the taxi driver tells me that he has to leave, that he has been docked twice in the same area. I convince him to take me back to the first establishment. The person in charge tells me that he's new, and that he can't help me. There is no phone I can call. Finally I decide to stay in the establishment where I pick up the keys, which is a youth hostel. He tells me that I have to pay for it, that it has nothing to do with the first one. The room is a backpacker's hostel, and the bathroom is shared. At least it was clean. The next day at Hotel Babel they apologize and tell me that they forgot the key to the entrance, that they had put in a new system, but they didn't tell me the access code either. They didn't give me back the cost of the room, but they offer me to stay one night free of char

No pude hacer el ingreso al hotel, y quisieron cobrarme dos veces la estadia no económica. Aun me deben ese dia que finalmente no pude disfrutar, y debi salir a buscar otro hotel alas 23 horas, porque la llave había que ir a buscarla a 10 caudras del hotel..

Hotel Boutique cómodo en el corazón de San Telmo. No hay oficina por la noche, lo que te da la sensación de llegar a tu casa. Muy recomendable para individuo solo y para pareja.

The area around the hotel is not too bad, but at night it got really noisy. The cleanliness and condition of the room could be improved more by offering cleaner bed sheets and blankets. I slept in room 05 and there were some old and dirty blankets and bed sheets in the wardrobe. The blanket I used was not too clean as well. The reception area and the common area were nice.

ATTENTION

Il faut savoir que les hôtels Babel ne sont pas des hôtels mais des mini studios avec un service d'accueil limité à des horaires précis. Il se peut que vous arriviez et qu'il n'y est personne pour vous ouvrir la porte et vous accueillir !!! Ce n'est pas parce que vous réservez un hôtel Babel à une adresse que c'est celui là que vous aurez en arrivant !!! On est arrivé porte close avec un numéro de téléphone inscrit sur la porte, personne ne nous à répondu, et ce malgré plusieurs appels ! Nous nous sommes rendus à une adresse indiquée aussi sur la porte et là on nous a dirigé vers une troisième adresse ou nous avons enfin pu nous installer....mais dans un quartier que nous n'avons pas choisi ! C'est la deuxième fois que cela ce produit avec cette chaîne d'hôtel, on ne passera plus jamais par eux !!!

This hotel is in the middle of san telmo. It is really nice and safe neighbourghood where you can visit the sunday market. The staff was really nice, speaks english. I do recommand this hotel.

Gepflegtes Hotel in San Telmo in guter strategischer Lage. Viele Lokale, Plaza Dorego, Bus, Sonntagsmarkt alles in kürzester Entfernung. Zimmer war für den Preis passend. Ich kam um 12 Uhr an, das Zimmer war bereits fertig, aber erst nach Verhandlung wurde mir gestattet meine Wertsachen usw. im Zimmersafe einzuschließen. Obwohl ich sofort auf Citytour ging dürfte ich meine Reisetasche nicht ins Zimmer stellen. Blieb dann unter der Treppe einsam und alleine bis zu meiner Rückkunft stehen. Die Rezeptionistin ließ es sich nicht nehmen mir die Tasche zum Zimmer zu tragen. Kenne das Hotel aus früheren Zeiten und statt Kosten für einen frühen Check In wurde ein kostenloser Kaffee etc. für die Wartezeit der Zimmerreinigung angeboten. Das Hotel ist eine gute Empfehlung!

Was ok before, now not so much

I've stayed here before and liked it - but that was a some time ago and now it's run down and there is less care. So many things... some lights were out, some stains on a lampshade, A/C unit couldn't be adjusted, tiles missing in the shower, no soap, no hangars posted wifi password was wrong... there's more, but you get the idea. Two days after starting my stay I come back around midnight and there's a note posted on the outside of the door saying my keys are at their other property and they are so sorry (it's not clear for what). I HAD my keys so assumed they had given me a different room. I went to their other property several blocks away and the people there had an envelope that had another copy of my own keys in it (the same room I already was in) - but had no other information. Apparently the manager of my property had gotten confused thinking the keys they had at the desk were mine and thought I was locked out. So... the upshot is that they didn't have track of the number and location of the keys to my room. That's scary! Who else has keys to my room??? Amazingly cavalier with security.

San Telmo is a great place to stay, and Hotel Babel in a perfect location close to cafes, restaurants, bars and the market. Easy walking into Centro, La Boca and to Puerto Madero. Small and pleasant hotel that has become a bit run down and service a bit haphazard. But given that we would stay there again because of its location.
