What a fabulous lodge! Only booked it the day before - excellent price for 3 days.
Janet was a fantastic host, the lodge lived up to the description on the website. Spacious but cosy, very well equipped lodge, amazing views, lovely outdoor seating area.
Nice log cabin with beautiful view. Warm, friendly owner. Perfect bed, good stuffed kitchen. Instead of a dishwashing brush there was sponge, but that might be a Continental thing!
We stayed here for Christmas and it was so lovely and cosy
Janet is a great host the cabin was clean and tidy - Janet even put a Christmas tree up for us 🎄
We would highly recommend.
Great place for walks and lovely pub just down the road.
Nearby village of Broughton in Furness has some nice pubs and a lovely bakery.
Lovely cabin surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Very quiet and ideal for enjoying a peaceful break in nature. Great location for accessing the southern Lake District. Janet and her family were so welcoming, and any little issues were sorted quickly. We really hope to visit again one day.
This place is absolutely perfect! Janet is a fabulous host and went out of her way to make our stay awesome. The cabin is spotless, looks like new and very comfortable. The views are stunning! We have stayed at many places but to us this ranks at the top. It is a bit of an effort to get to but we’ll worth it. Do yourself a favour and take the opportunity to stay here.
The property is very remote so for anyone wanting to get away from the usual tourist areas, this is a great option.
Everything was clean and as expected when we arrived, the instructions from Janet on the location were helpful.
Definitely ideal for a couple as we had plenty of space and all the usual things needed in self catering accommodation.
The field of sheep next to it was great, as was the pub down the road. Book the pub beforehand if you're going as it's small but definitely worth it.
I'd definitely recommend staying here.
We had a fab time in the cabin, it was really great, Janet clearly cares hugely about both the cabin and her guests. I would 100% stay there again and could not recommend it enough. The area was absolutely stunning. Five stars all round from me !!
This is located in a lovely quite location when you first arrive you think have we got the correct place and as you continue down the private drive you see the log cabin we have stayed here twice.
If you get a nice sunny morning you can have breakfast out on the veranda or after a day out relax outside with a nice drink.
The only bad point is the cleaning process after guests have departed more attention to detail is needed like removing cobwebs from lights and cleaning under cupboards etc.
We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here , the cabin has everything you need it's like home from home very quiet and tranquil. A perfect base for exploring the West lakes. There are many walks near by too. We were greeted by Janet upon arrival who couldn't have done anymore to help us with everything we needed to know and she also came over to thank us for staying and have a chat. Will definitely come back and try stay here again but as a couple and maybe for longer , was a lovely weekend. P.s the blacksmiths Arms down the road 10 min walk does fab food and real ales. And there is direct access to footpaths outside the cabin for exploring the area.
MANY THANKS JANET WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME AT YOUR CABIN X
Great cabin, set in a rural location with beautiful views of the surrounding hillsides. Perfect for visiting the various Lakes, but lovely to be staying away from the hum drum. Great local pub serving delicious meals, including vegetarian. We had the ideal walking holiday as planned. Highly recommended.
Really enjoyed our stay, the cabin was spacious, clean, well equipped, and had amazing views. We ordered the weather and had a glorious 5 days of sunshine in April, enjoying the spring flowers and field upon field of lambs. The cabins a good base for exploring the southern lakes, and a scenic drive soon takes you into the north, will definitely be staying again and highly recommend : )
We’ve had a superb break here. Family of 4. Lovely walks from the doorstep and good base to explore further afield. Well-equipped, cosy and comfortable. Fantastic place to stay. We will return.
We had a wonderful few days. Great place for peace and quiet. Cabin was wonderful, clean and modern. Owner let us settle in then asked if we required anything, lovely and helpful.
We’ve just had a brilliant 3 night stay at this super cosy cabin. It’s away from the touristy areas of the lakes and it’s an oasis of calm. Janet was a fantastic host and it was very private, while nice to have the farm up the way in case we needed anything. The cabin is spotless, it was really cosy and warm, the beds were comfy and there’s even a little electric fireplace and fairy lights to get the cosy cabin ambiance. We used it as a base for hiking Scafell Pike around an hour away and we’ll be again for our next lakes adventure.
The property was brilliant, loved the location and views. Lots of varied places nearby to visit and it only rained for 1 afternoon/evening but we were comfortable in the property.
A great few days away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the log cabin. It is set in farming land and beautiful countryside, with amazing views. Truly the perfect spot to get away from it all! The cabin was warm, clean, cosy and well equipped. Janet, the owner was delightful! Friendly and helpful, without being intrusive. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and I slept better than I have for years. If you want to explore the area on foot, look no further. There are footpaths right on the doorstep. However, if you want to explore the Lakes by car, be prepared to negotiate some very narrow roads, particularly leading to and from the cabin. If you would like peace, tranquillity and fabulous views, with home comforts, the log cabin would be exceptionally hard to beat!
The cabin was beautifully clean, light and easily big enough for three adults. The owner, Janet, offered us a warm welcome and we were soon chatting as if we had known each other for years. Although situated only just within the National Park boundary, the site is very much within the anticipated “Lake District” environment, being on a working farm at the end of a long drive surrounded by impressive hills. The only sound in the evening is that of the river running through the valley. Never-the less, it is only about a 30-minute drive to Coniston and a similar journey time to Silecroft on the west coast where there is a broad but very quiet beach. However, exploring the surroundings on foot is why we were there. A public footpath that starts almost at the front door takes you through ancient woods, over picturesque rivers and up to the most amazing views. Arm yourself with an OS map and you can forget the car. The nearest village with a shop in Broughton-In-Furness is about 10 minute drive, although it is perhaps best to be as self-sufficient as possible to save trips. The nearest pub is the excellent Blacksmith’s Arms in Broughton Mills which is about a 10-minute walk away. The beer was superb and although the restaurant was not open due to COVID it was due to reopen in August and the local chat suggested that the food was something special. You will not regret staying here.
What can we say - a real 'home away from home'. Everything you could need as a base for a walking holiday in the Southern Lake District. Highly recommended.
